  1. Isn't it pretty apparent, after months of seeing the same thing, that they see Kotsay and Counsell as important bench pieces and that those guys will contiue to play and get ABs because of it? I can't explain it, nor will I defend it, but that's the only conclusion that can be drawn. A similar conclusion has to be drawn with respect to out starting left-side of the infield.
  2. I honestly don't think Yuni is going anywhere and I think all the evidence of how DM operates supports that idea. He's probably going to be the everyday SS for the rest of the season. Good move for Atlanta, and good move for the Brewers for today.
  3. The two best players on the team went K, GIDP (boot). I'd put more on them than the new guy.
  4. Need more than that from that inning. Maybe not against Houston, but in principle.
  5. WMLW means my-eyes-bleed. It's the functional equivalent of watching a game through the privacy glass in my shower door. I'll keep complaining until I don't have to, or I'm dead, whichever comes first.
  6. I'm guessing you'll only see Counsell gone when you pry him from Melvin's cold, dead hands.
  7. Given everything we know about how the Brewers work, I expect Hariston to be a bench guy. Yuni is still the every day SS. Casey is still the everyday 3B. RR just have more flexibility in when to PH guys and maybe give somebody a day off. JHJ isn't coming in to do anything more than that.
  8. That is atrocious defense. How 'bout moving your feet? Helps the Crew, but gotta call that what it is.
  9. Well, part of the reason the Phillies can stock their system is because they can buy players they want at the ML level and not feel the need to have to hang on to every above average prospect they have or push guys to the ML club too early. When you must hang on to and develop your own guys to actually build a team your options are much more limited.
  10. Every time I see that commercial I think of the Little Lebowski Urban Achievers.
  11. You have to love the economics of baseball. Philly is dominating the NL and they can trade for a guy like Pence. Meanwhile, Milwaukee is scrapin galong looking for AAA guys from other organizations.
  12. Only if the Brewers win. As of today they are only .500 against the 'Stros.
  13. You're right, fondy. Ths thread just illustrates that there is a marked difference between what the fans think/want and they way Melvin thinks. The fans might be right, but fans also have to acknowledge that they are probably working with an informational deficit. At this point I think everything that can be said about the Green situation has been said unitl the facts of the case eveolve further. The facts changed again last night when Lopez was brought up, despite the earlier public comment on the organization's intentions. I don't know what else needs to be said after that.
  14. I think with today's move involving Lopez, all the public statements to date, and the general weight of history with respect this this front office's track record, we should just close this thread down now. Unless there is a bus/plane crash, or something like an asteroid strike near Miller Park, we aren't seeing Green until September (if at all). Same thing with Gamel.
  15. Just another piece in a mountain of evidence of the philosophy the current FO has with respect to the relative value of experienced veterans versus prospects who are anything than top-level.
  16. If you were TH wouldn't you be sick of being constantly asked the same question? It doesn't mean he doesn't think (to himself) that Green might be a solution to certain problems. It's that, given his position as beat writer, the question has been asked and answered. About 1000 times. He has no control over the situation. He asks the question. The Brewers answer it. Smart readers read between the lines of the answers. He's not saying it's a stupid question. It's a GREAT question. The first time it's asked. And the second. And maybe even the third. After that it's just superfluous.
  17. I bet Casey feels terrible for Green being blocked in this organization, much the same way he was blocked by Ramirez.
  18. 'Seasons' is probably an inferior unit of measure in this case. I prefer "clutch at-bats and World Series highlights".
  19. Yeah, he got hit around pretty good. The game was a really big deal at the time, and with it being Sunday Night, the Yankees, the Brewers being the Brewers, it was a good time at the old ballpark.
  20. My only real memory of Irabu is that I was at that game and it was the only time I ever sat along the first base side in County Stadium.
  21. The Giants? ___ Hard to beleive this is the first sweep over the Cubs in 6 years. And my Dad is fine. Just thwoing out a bad line with that post.
  22. It ended the same way for my Dad. He was trying really hard, but all he could manage was a speechless, feeble dribble as we all looked on feeling terrible about it.
