  1. How many shots did this song take to write? I don't drink, so none.
  2. You're swinging softly through the ball In a broken stone age dawn I sigh and cry I get a Haines magic Oh what a Haines magic Oh it's a Haines magic Got a Haines maaaagic Got a Haines maaaagic You're making base hits in my mind Making outs between the lines Oh no, oh no I get a Haines magic Oh what a Haines magic Oh it's a Haines magic Got a Haines magic Got a Haines magic Oh I'm never gonna be the same again Now I've seen the game it's got to end Sweet team, sweet team Haines magic Oh what a Haines magic Oh it's a Haines magic Got a Haines magic Got a Haines magic It's magic It's magic It's magic Haines magic Oh what a Haines magic Oh it's a Haines magic Haines magic Oh it's a Haines magic Oh it's a Haines magic Got a Haines magic Haines magic Oh it's a Haines magic Oh it's a Haines magic Got a Haines magic Got a Haines magic You know I got a Haines magic Yeah I got a Haines magic
  3. You could probably do a 12 Days of Christmas on this game. 12 Cubs runs 11 drinks a Brewers fan 10 Cubs hits 9 innings from Mills 8 Brewers strikeouts (Optimism!) 7 Brewers walks 6 shots of vodka 5 run 4th 4 run 5th 3 Brewers errors 2 Arcia runs And a no hitter from Alec Mills
  4. Sad that we're using one of our best hitters to pitch. Sad that he's one of our best hitters too.
  5. It's cool seeing no hitters and it's not like a run or two is going to get us back in the game so bring on the no hitter.
  6. CC, meet Stearns's doghouse. What got CC so worked up today that he got tossed? Sac fly scored Schwarber and sent Baez to 3rd. Sogard got the ball and threw it to 2nd and when he did Baez ran home and scored.
  7. The only question is whether or not our hit total will exceed our error total by the end of the game.
  8. It's weird that they say Pat Murphy is the guy that keeps things loose because he looks like such an old crank.
  9. Made me laugh. It'd be funnier if it wasn't also true.
  10. Ervin getting carries over DIllon. We used a 2nd round pick on a 4th string running back.
  11. A.J. Dillon paying big dividends at the goal line!
  12. Counter: If you sign an MVP to a contract extension and then don’t spend money putting players around him you just end up winning 75 games anyways.
  13. Anything even 1% questionable is worth a challenge in the 9th inning. You literally have nothing to lose. No point to challenge. Hiura made no attempt to stay on the bag and left the field. There is no way to reverse the call and put Hiura on 3rd base. He was also pretty clearly tagged on the hip with the bare hand. I guess you could challenge but there was really no chance they were going to overturn it since it was pretty clear he was tagged and even if we wasn't there wasn't any angle that showed he wasn't.
  14. He was at 95. I'm not sure where this idea that Hader has regularly thrown 98, but I don't think that is necessarily true. He's been sitting at 95-96 on his fastball this year, and that is pretty much where he's at. He was hitting 97 a few times last year, but it wasn't until mid-year ... 80-100 games in. His first year up he was 99/100. My wife knows nothing about baseball but loved Hader cuz he could throw 100 mph. That’s the only reason I know he threw that hard. He wasn’t that last year, and seems to lose a mph or so each year... His average fastball velocity this year is literally exactly the same as his rookie year.
  15. Would be shocked if two runs doesn't hold up with how bad the Cubs offense is against us.
  16. I posted this after the game last night. It still holds true.
  17. The Cubs offense, no matter who is playing and how good they might be generally turns into complete trash against our pitching.
  18. Cutter moves away from same handed hitters, two-seamer moves in to same handed hitters.
  19. I don’t think that’s something we can accurately predict at this point, but the front office appears to be betting on the fact he will. One encouraging sign is coming into tonight he was averaging over 89-mph on his exit velocity which is above average. I would not be surprised at all if he turned into a doubles hitter that also produces 20-25 HRs a year in his peak seasons. I agree that he’s obviously going to be more valuable in the middle infield than as a third baseman. He's not getting anywhere near any power if he keeps hitting the ball on the ground 63.5% of the time.
  20. 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. It's a British show so you have to watch it on Youtube but it's hilarious and sometimes smart. Mostly hilarious though.
