  1. Our outfield depth currently consists of a 36 year old Braun, Yelich, Garcia (is anyone impressed by him?), Cain who will be 35 right after opening day next year, Corey Ray and Tyrone Taylor. If that group of outfielders impresses you in both quality and depth then I have a 1985 Yugo with your name on it.
  2. No line from Bill annoys me more than “too close to take.” No Bill, it just means umpires are garbage.
  3. With Grisham his batting average has been fairly meaningless because he's maintained a good ability to get on-base throughout his professional career. I think long term he'll probably be a .240-.250 batting average type hitter in the majors, but that isn't necessarily a detriment for his type of profile. The part I have trouble fully understanding is Grisham's sudden slugging surge. Prior to last year he was sub-.350 in slugging percentage throughout his first four seasons in the minors. Then last year between Biloxi and San Antonio he slugged over .600. During his stint with the Brewers he slugged a modest .410 over 183 plate appearances (MLB average SLG last year was .435). Now this season in San Diego he's slugging .514. I think he'll maintain fairly high OBP throughout his career, but I am still a bit skeptical he's going to maintain a .500-plus SLG. It's in the article I posted.
  4. Subscription required but nice article on Grisham from when he was an amateur, to his time in the minors (surprise! Brewers tried to get him to change his grip on the bat and he struggled) to now. https://theathletic.com/2018402/2020/08/25/hes-making-his-mark-trent-grishams-journey-to-the-top-of-the-padres-lineup/
  5. Cleveland wouldn't do it for one, let alone both.
  6. "This account owner limits who can view their tweets." Edit: Apparently I'm blocked by him.
  7. My group of 6 and 7 year olds throwing a whiffle ball last week were more accurate than Narvaez was on that throw.
  8. We got one high profile guy in return.
  9. To be fair Eric Lauer also probably pitched 8 innings with under 100 pitches in a simulated game at the alternate site at some point in the past week.
  10. MLB is actually playing games now. The NFL says they're going to have a limited number in the stands but that can change very quickly if they tie an outbreak to a gathering in a stadium.
  11. Yelich's new money doesn't kick in until 2022. If they weren't spending this winter because of that and that's a dubious claim to begin with because Yelich didn't sign until March and there was no guarantee that any extension would be reached, they're not going to spend anything for the rest of the decade.
  12. This was like the best free agent class in terms of quality and depth in years. There's never much on the market if you think there wasn't much on the market last winter. They weren’t going multiple years on guys into their 30’s so who on the FA side should they have signed? Because Moose and Grandal weren’t happening. That's fine but it was a deep and quality class. If you're not going after anybody in that class because "there wasn't much on the market", you just aren't ever going to be a player in free agency.

  14. They were injured. Turner, Soto and Rendon all landed on the IL in April and/or May.
  15. The Pirates have scored 19 in their last 15 innings against the Brewers. The prior 7 games they scored 20 runs (9 of those came in one game.)
  16. If Holt said his mind was on his family he might just stay home and not play for the rest of the season.
  17. Using the term major leaguers generously. *rushes out to buy a drum set for a rim shot*
  18. Velocity isn't everything but Mikolas has averaged 94 and Lindblom is at like 90.5. Mikolas also doesn't walk anybody. Their stuff isn't similar at all.
  19. How does one socially distance but also hug?
  20. Finally something interesting about the Brewers.
  21. In what way is A.J. Preller desperate?
