  1. Yeah, Suter is going to have a really hard time getting major league hitters out. When you top out at 86 and don't have amazing control and command, you're going to get hit.
  2. All of these games that aren't on TV are really annoying. Instead of a live baseball game we get a replay of Young Boys vs Borussia Mönchengladbach. Just garbage.
  3. No it doesn't mean that. It's not a one way argument. Villar can argue that his stolen bases add a ton of value and he should be rewarded for that. The Brewers can argue that his 74% stolen base percentage is below the break even point of 75% and that doesn't even include all the outs he makes on the bases that don't count as stolen base attempts. Now it depends on who decides the case, if it even goes all the way to a hearing but an arbitrator isn't going to just say here, you win because of stolen base totals.
  4. That Suppan comparison when Nelson was drafted could not be more spot on.
  5. A 4 minute review and they still couldn't get a fairly easy call right. He was pretty clearly safe.
  6. Not exactly sure why Braun waited so long to slide or slid at all. There was no chance he was catching that ball.
  7. Good thing we couldn't play yesterday. Now we have like 6 pitchers to get through almost 9 innings at minimum.
  8. Has anyone noticed how bad FS Wisconsin's scoreboard has been recently? Constantly getting the wrong counts, wrong number of outs etc. Like earlier today it was a 2-1 count to Nieuwenhuis, the scoreboard had it at 1-2. The next pitch was a strike and the scoreboard called it a strikeout and then brought up Broxton's name with a new count and added another out. They finally realized it was wrong and just completely took the scoreboard down until somebody decided to wake up and fix it.
  9. And Ryan Braun is still the best thing ever. Let's not compare beating a wife/girlfriend to taking PEDs.
  10. Not really. I posted this when he was traded. My post was also quoted later with an "A-freakin'-men."
  11. So are horses jumping over hurdles. I root for every horse to go rogue and buck the stupid riders off.
  12. They have nothing to offer.
  13. Doubt Braun would even be in the top 5 in MVP voting if the Brewers were a contender. Might sneak into the top 10.
  14. That's a really good point. Baseball teams will draft or sign a guy just because he's an athlete, regardless of their baseball playing ability or whether or not they have actually ever played baseball. I don't see how this would be any different. The difference is he hasn't played baseball in a decade.
  15. Why? Just see what Broxton can do. There's no value in signing him now.
  16. The Reds were winning 4-0 in St. Louis with a runner on 1st and 2 outs. This is what happened after. Walk HBP Single Single Walk Walk HBP A 4-0 lead turns into a 5-4 loss.
  17. I know he hit a homer earlier but Pierzynski is all kinds of awful.
  18. I don't see what your issue is with that statement. You can play matchups in the bullpen, well, we can't really now since it's all right handers. You can shift when there's a pull hitter at the plate, those are moves that increase your odds to win but you can also give younger players the playing time they need to see if they develop into a future player when the team is contending again. If they don't develop into that player, then at least you know and you can move on. If they do, that's terrific too. Once again, nobody is saying hey play this guy all the time even though he's no good and sit our star player because we're winning too many games. All we're saying is play the young guy with solid tools to see if he develops into a future piece. Even if he doesn't, at least you know and it might have only cost you a couple of losses in a rebuilding season(s).
  19. That is not what anybody is saying. What if, with regular playing time, Broxton turns into a really good player? That helps Counsell's career and the Brewers win more.
  20. That's a little insulting because I've played competitive and recreational sports and always cared about winning. I also know that when you're in a situation like the Brewers, it's not all about winning. Coaches need to be able to separate these things. Nobody is saying go out there and let Blazek pitch 5 innings so the other team scores like 6 or 7 runs off of him and guarantee we lose. It's not too much to ask to play a young, toolsy centerfielder most of the time in place of Kirk Nieuwenhuis to evaluate said centerfielder and possibly see if he's a future piece on our next contending team. We already know what Nieuwenhuis is. A 4th or 5th outfielder. Now, if we didn't have Broxton, then by all means let Nieuwenhuis play everyday. He's a decent filler on a rebuilding team that you might be able to extract a little from in a trade. That's not the case here. Once again, nobody is saying sit Braun for the rest of the season so we can play (insert crappy player here) to lose more games. Nobody is saying hey that Villar guy is playing too well. Better bring up Brandon Macias and let him play over him so we can lose more.
  21. You can try to win while not particularly caring if you do win and in the meantime give players with a potential future with the team the majority of the playing time over veteran fillers, which likely leads to more losses but also helps you evaluate for the future.
  22. Really glad to hear that Stearns wasn't willing to settle on d'Arnaud, Nimmo, prospect for Lucroy. Much happier hearing this though I agree, I wouldn't have really been a fan of Wheeler as the centerpiece. I think he used the Mets as leverage really well.
  23. Handball is my favorite. Wish it was popular in America. They sometimes have that on Fox Sports 2 late at night. I agree that's more fun to watch than rugby.
