  1. This. The Indians aren't going to say we're playing Yan Gomes over you. They know Gomes suck, if they didn't, they wouldn't have been in on Lucroy.
  2. Honestly, if we don't find a trade for him by the deadline, I'd bench his ass for the rest of the season. When he inevitably goes to the media and complains about not playing, I immediately go to the media and say he had a chance to be starting for a contender and he blew it. That's on him. I honestly don't even care if that lowers his trade value. Screw him.
  3. Lucroy this winter. http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/jonathan-lucroy-thinks-trade-would-be-best-for-him-and-brewers-b99654302z1-365824811.html Lucroy during the all-star break http://www.todaysknuckleball.com/nl/milwaukee-brewers/heyman-jonathan-lucroy-ready-contender-milwaukee-elsewhere/ I hate this guy. I hope the Braves swoop in and offer us a haul and there won't be a damn thing he can do about it.
  4. Guess playing for a contender isn't that important like he whined about in the offseason.
  5. Haudricourt just tweeted that Lucroy vetoed the trade.
  6. Who here would've added two of Thornburg, Jeffress and Smith if it meant we could get the package of players the Yankees got for Miller?
  7. He's an almost 26 year old reliever that walks a bunch of guys. In other words, I think nothing of him. The more I think about this deal the more pissed off I get. We had one asset that we needed to hit a home run with and at best we beat the shift and dribbled a double down the line.
  8. 25 year old reliever. This deal is officially gross.
  9. Just because you keep saying this doesn't make it true and doesn't mean we can't question the deal. Looking at what relief pitchers are getting and then looking at what we're getting for 1.5 years of one if the best catchers in the game, it's completely fair to question what we got back.
  10. I think you're being way too optimistic here.
  11. No, you said you couldn't tell who because your "arse would be in a sling." viewtopic.php?f=66&t=34374&p=996994#p996994 I agree with And That. You didn't really break anything.
  12. Well this would be the cherry on top of this turd sundae.
  13. I couldn't be more underwhelmed by this trade.
  14. Could just as easily be the Brewers leaking info trying to encourage other bids. I don't see why the Brewers would leak a crappy bid. All that will do is encourage other crappy bids.
  15. You can get top prospects for Lucroy. You're asking for a 21 year old already performing in the majors. A team isn't going to give up significant pieces from their major league roster as it defeats the purpose of trading for Lucroy in the first place. To flip this around, if you were an Indians fan, it would be like you demanding Braun in return for Sabathia in 2008.
  16. And if what happened to Cervelli happened to him we'd be going through the whole song and dance we went through last winter. Injury prone. Has to prove he's healthy etc., except this time we have no leverage because if we don't trade him in the winter, his value goes down a ton.
  17. He's kind of a (word I can't use here) if he doesn't after all the whining he did in the offseason about wanting to play for a winner.
  18. Strange that my argument is being called "ridiculous" when it is an objective fact that all 30 teams in baseball will continue to start players on their teams when a trade is not imminent. Jay Bruce is starting tonight as well, guess you guys have another team take control of and correct these foolish GMs! I said in the game thread and in this thread that while I wouldn't like it, I would be okay with him pinch hitting or even starting at 1B. Too many things can happen to a catcher that don't happen to other position players. Is the risk small? Yes. Is the risk worth whatever reward there is? Not a chance.
  19. Yes, he sat out a game against the team he was being traded to while they finalized the deal. Not exactly the same situation... If there is a deal close to being finalized Lucroy would not be starting. He sat out two games, one against Washington and one against Toronto and the Orioles were at one point a favorite to acquire him. Your argument is ridiculous. You sit him for these 3 games or at least don't play him at a position where freak injuries can happen like catcher. And the reason you don't sit him at the beginning of July is because if he did get hurt, you could conceivably have him come back from a two week injury and still have two weeks to prove he's the same guy he was before. He gets a foul ball off the mask or sprains an ankle or pulls a hamstring and teams are going to back away.
  20. As I said in the game thread. Lucroy can play, either as a pinch hitter or 1st baseman at most but I'd still prefer he sit. Playing him at catcher is playing with fire. A foul ball off the mask, a foul ball off the toe and he's not getting traded. That would be so incredibly disappointing and the Brewers would deserve a ton of criticism if it happened. It's a high risk for absolutely no reward situation. Like I said, the Padres just sat Upton for a couple games while they were working out a trade to make sure he didn't pull a hamstring or sprain an ankle derailing a potential deal. That's all we're asking the Brewers do to right now and it's not unreasonable at all.
  21. The Padres just sat Upton for a few games because they were working out a trade.
  22. Letting him play is fine but only as a pinch hitter. Maybe a 1st baseman. They're insane if they let him play this weekend at catcher and knowing the Brewers luck, he'll get a foul ball off the foot and break his toe again or something.
  23. Considering the Giants would never be a suitor for Lucroy, I would say no. Maybe for Smith, Jeffress or Thornburg.
  24. They didn't leak the deal to the media and then leak to the media that they were backing out. At least not the people that were responsible for putting the deal together.
  25. Didn't they also consider Espinoza off limits?
