  1. Doubt Minnesota gives up Kepler for a reliever and a prospect that's miles away.
  2. Yuniesky Betancourt as a Brewer: .235/.258/.371

Saw the title of this thread and was thinking it was going to go in a completely different direction.
  4. How have the Phillies won 40 something games? They are awful and now we get 3 more games against a team that might be even worse than them, especially with Stanton and Fernandez injured.
  5. They were eliminated, 13-0 final after 4 innings.
  6. Focusing on one position in trading is probably one of the worst things the franchise could do at this point.
  7. There's nothing to suggest that Gattis was improving as a hitter other than a few more balls eluding defenders. He still hacked at everything and didn't draw walks (something that Davis actually does, which is why despite batting in the .230s this year has led to Davis having a better OBP than Gattis has ever had.) They were the same age. Gattis was 27 last year, Davis is this year. Both have a bunch of years of team control left. It's a completely valid comparison and I would actually probably prefer Davis to Gattis. Now I think the Astros overpaid for Gattis at the time and I obviously think that now with Gattis being horrible this season but all it takes is one team to overpay and we could get a really nice haul for Davis.
  8. Excellent comparison. Cespedes is a career .269/.316/.471 hitter. Davis is a career .247/.313/.476 hitter. Cespedes is a better defender with a much better arm but Davis is cheap with years of control remaining, more than cancelling out Cespedes' defensive value. I'll throw out another comparison of a guy with a lot of team control and no defensive value. Evan Gattis got the Braves Mike Foltynewicz, Rio Ruiz and Andrew Thurman.
  9. Robot umps can't get here soon enough. Home plate ump has been awful both ways today.
  10. Hisashi Iwakuma just threw a no hitter against the Orioles. The player to make the final out? Gerardo Parra, who has been horrible since he was traded.
  11. Where did you read this? I haven't seen any links to any stories yet, so I'm just curious. Adam McCalvy ‏@AdamMcCalvy #Brewers have hired executive search firm Korn Ferry to organize GM search. Will target younger candidates with knowledge of analytics.
  12. Love that they're looking for a young GM well versed in analytics.

  14. So apparently Anthony Witrado has a weekly segment on WSSP. He's as dumb as ever. In the first couple of minutes he said the Brewers would love someone to take Khris Davis off their hands. Now Davis is obviously a flawed player, but he's cheap and he can hit for power and draw walks. That's not a player the Brewers would love to have a team take off their hands. Then he went on to say the Pirates starting rotation isn't good. Now it's been hurt with Burnett being out but Cole and Liriano are a really good 1-2 punch and if Burnett can come back and pitch like he has before he was pitching hurt, their 1-2-3 can go up against anybody's.
  15. The Premier League season kicked off this week. Swansea is going to finish in the top 6. So underrated and so much fun to watch. NBC also won the rights to broadcast the Premier League for the next 6 years, which is fantastic. They do a wonderful job in broadcasting every game.
  16. Yeah, just saw that replay. He clearly did tag him on the helmet. I believe FS Wisconsin showed the definitive angle but didn't slow it down as much so you couldn't tell. Jonathan Broxton still sucks.
  17. When I first saw the replay it looked like he tagged his helmet. You couldn't really tell but since he was called out, the call had to stand. Close call and sucks for the Brewers but it was the right call.
  18. Will Bill shut up about that caught stealing? He was called out on the field. It looked like he may have been tagged on the helmet before his hand touched the base. Therefore the call stands because there isn't enough evidence to overturn it. This isn't rocket science.
  19. I don't think adding a guy like Danny Valencia for example would be the least bit entertaining. Sure you can sign a couple of guys to one year deals and trade them at the deadline or whatever but seeing how a young starting pitching staff can do over 162 games is good enough for me. Watching young players develop is usually more entertaining than what we're usually given.
  20. Air conditioning is all I want. I refuse to go to a game where there's even a chance of rain because if it does rain we're stuck in a freaking sauna. I hate saunas as it is. Why would I want to be in one during a baseball game?
  21. No. Not even if we picked up all the salary can we bring back a first round pick caliber talent. It was sarcasm because the whole time some posters were saying we would be able to get the value of the pick we lost back if we traded him and now we're going to have to pay almost all of his salary and take pretty much nothing in return for him if we can even trade him at all.
  22. Remember when fangraphs proposed Segura for Despaigne + Maurer? Now granted, Segura has been terrible as well but he hasn't been Despaigne terrible.
  23. http://disciplesofuecker.com/mark-attanasio-signs-kyle-lohse-to-three-year-deal/8730 I think it's pretty obvious that MA was heavily involved if not the only one involved in signing Lohse because the whole winter Melvin said they were satisfied with their pitching and they weren't going to give up a pick to sign him.

  25. Fiers pitched his first inning in relief tonight. Gave up 6 hits, 2 walks and 5 runs.
