  1. Toronto has less than no need for Lucroy.
  2. Not at all surprised they were shutout after looking at that lineup. It was either going to be a shutout or they were somehow going to score 10+ runs. No in between.
  3. Rosiak says the Brewers are going with a 6 man rotation for a turn to get the Brewers to the trade deadline. Melvin is trying to trade Lohse and/or Garza according to Haudricourt. No takers for obvious reasons.
  4. Several? He's going to be 37 at the start of next season. He'll be lucky if he's in the majors for another two years at his age, even if we disregard how awful he's been, which would be silly. The players you listed were all younger than Lohse at the time of their second chances and all are position players. Lohse has mediocre stuff to begin with. If he loses a little bit of that or loses a little bit of control/command, he's going to get knocked around. That's exactly what's happened.
  5. Webb struck out more, walked less and got way more ground balls than Jungmann ever has.
  6. Why? He's already come to the Brewers with the idea of an extension that would make him a "Brewer for life" and the Brewers declined. What possible reason would we have to keep him in that case? It's certainly not because we're competing and need to keep him because of that.
  7. Not at all interested in giving this group "one more year." They've had four and haven't made the playoffs.
  8. http://www.cleveland.com/tribe/index.ssf/2013/07/mlb_baseballs_must_get_dirty_b.html Seems like they just keep a huge stock of balls in the clubhouse and then take them as needed. The used balls that are no longer in "game shape" are then used for BP or sent to the minors.
  9. Indeed I do - it also told me that Barrios is headed to AA Biloxi. My phone tells me that's in Mississippi.
  10. Pirates paying Ramirez $3 million according to Rosenthal.
  11. Like it more now that I found out he's been pitching for less than two years. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/evaluating-the-prospects-pittsburgh-pirates/
  12. Yhonathan Barrios. 23 year old reliever with a 4.6 ERA and awful peripheral stats in AAA. So much for Ramirez's hot month giving him value.
  13. Post-Gazette in Pittsburgh saying the same thing.
  14. They have dynamic pricing. The price is determined by the demand for tickets.
  15. I should have added that those percentages were the chances for getting a Round A pick.
  16. They say that now but what about when Peralta comes back? Sure they could option Knebel or something but even then, Lohse likely isn't keeping his rotation spot at the very least.
  17. My fear at this point is they take offers for someone like Gomez but would only be willing to trade him if the other team takes Garza or Lohse back, which devalues Gomez. I really hope they don't do something like that.
  18. Just looking at the odds, it just looks like they go by record the previous year. Diamondbacks 64-98 - 18.2% Rockies 66-96 - 16.5% Reds 76-86 - 9.5% Marlins, Padres and Rays 77-85 - 8.9% Brewers 82-80 - 6.6% Indians 85-77 - 5.4% A's and Pirates 88-74 - 4.5% Royals 89-73 - 4.2% Cardinals 90-72 - 3.9% I have no idea how they come up with the percentage of each team getting a pick though.
  19. I don't see how. The Nationals are contending, so it's not like they were going to trade Escobar. He's been playing 3B all year. And even if he was playing SS, the Nationals have their own stud SS prospect to call up in Trea Turner.
  20. I think this was probably Lohse's last start for the Brewers. I don't think they'll find a trade partner for him but when Peralta comes back, they'll release him.
  21. Sucks getting a Round B pick. Four years of these and we've gotten two in Round A and two in Round B and I don't think we've ever been higher than the 4th selection in either round.
  22. If they don't want to sign him long term (I agree with that decision) and we're not in a position where making the playoffs is a realistic possibility (we aren't) then he should be on the trade block.
  23. If the Brewers weren't playing well right now this discussion doesn't even come up. Awful idea.
  24. See, it's the Yankees and we're just the lowly Brewers so we should feel privileged that they want to nab our talented, cheap starter.
