    They said they're not going to play Bauers much, if at all in the outfield. If it's because of the injury, I don't know why they played him so much there at the end of the regular season when everything was all wrapped up.

    I can only assume that will be all for Ray based on the first couple pages of this thread. Or and much more likely, we put out a stupid lineup that gave Ray a much better chance of success.

    Problem is Ray threw only one more pitch than we had runs in the 1st inning of game 1 last year.

    The cutter could be a good pitch against righties. He throws it way too often against lefties and it breaks right into their wheelhouse. He also doesn't use it as a pitch that starts on the corner and breaks just off the plate. A lot of times it catches way too much of the plate and 95 over the plate, even if it moves a bit is fairly easy for MLB hitters to get to.

    5 hard hit balls and a ton of foul balls. Even if he wouldn't have given up (at least) one run, he would still be pitching poorly.

    Yeah, I'm just going to say we're giving him every opportunity not to suck with the lineup that we're trotting out.

    I see no reason why the Padres would short start Ray. He hasn't pitched since the 23rd. The only reason he would only be in for a couple innings would be if we light him up. he gets hurt or he's in major trouble like 1 run already in and the bases are loaded with less than two outs and they want to bring in someone for a matchup or he's already had a high pitch count in the inning. Over 40% of the hits Ray has allowed to right handed batters have gone for extra bases this year. Vs lefties, it's under 20%. We're starting 4 lefties, 3 of our first 5 hitters. Nothing like putting our best foot forward.

    He was awful in September. 8.24 ERA, same number of walks as strikeouts. Maybe they saw those 4 starts and were like we'll use him in game 3 if we have to but we have to actually get to game 3 first.
