  1. I disagree. The best he got last year was 1 year $4.75M with an option for $6M. Now he's coming off a bad year and he can expect 1 year $6M worst case scenario? Not buying it. And even if he could get that, it shouldn't be from the Brewers.
  2. Wasn't Vargas supposed to be easily tradeable at like $3.5M? No team is going to pay $6M for Looper after the year he's had. Neither should the Brewers. As far as being the second best SP. That's not really high praise since after Gallardo, the rotation has been crap.
  3. I have the exact same problem Patrick and it started when I got IE8.
  4. Coincedence that Rivera catches the best pitching performance of the series?
  5. I think it's very likely that the Brewers exercise Looper's option. Not only has Haudricourt mentioned that it's likely that his option is picked up, but McCalvy had this to say in a recent article. Link It just seems like they like Looper as a back of the rotation innings eater and I doubt both beat writers for the team would write that if Melvin didn't give them some indication that they were planning on bringing Looper back.
  6. It was pretty funny listening to that interview and then the interview they did with a state representative from Oklahoma. The Mercury Marine worker was absolutely positive that they were going to move the jobs to Stillwater anyways and then the representative comes on and is absolutely positive that Mercury Marine really wants to stay in Fond du Lac and has never had any intention of moving to Stillwater and that they actually have plans to move the Stillwater jobs to Fond du Lac.
  7. I think Vazquez would cost a ton to acquire. I don't really want to give up the farm. I wouldn't mind Harang depending on the price. If we're going for older/injured pitchers. How about Smoltz, Hudson, Bedard, Penny or Escobar? One or two of those pitchers would be nice. Obviously there's some risk involved with all of them, but the rewards could be huge. The concerning thing came from TH's chat today. I don't really know how much Haudricourt knows about Melvin's thinking in the offseason, but what he's saying here would be a huge disappointment to me. Exercising Looper's option is just being okay with mediocrity to me. And I know Parra was a huge disappointment this year, but giving up a cheap, hard throwing lefty would be pretty disappointing. Then there's this part. That would be disappointing as well. Those guys have no sustained track records of success. I'd like to sign guys who have a chance to be 2-3 starters, not guys who had their first good years in years or guys with declining peripherals. That to me is just hoping they can keep it up. Take a gamble on one of those guys I mentioned. It may not work, but it won't be because they're mediocre in the talent department and you could probably get all of those guys I listed on one year deals because they're either older or injured and trying to regain some value in the free agent market next year.
  8. Insta-ban for being misleading imo. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. I don't see why we would offer Kendall arby. He's making what, $4M this year? He's definitely going to accept that and make at least that much next year. I wouldn't offer him arby. It at least makes sense to offer Cameron arby since he's actually good.
  10. I fit those requirements! How do I sign up?
  11. From McCalvy's blog This would be awesome if he would give up some money to remain with the Brewers. I like Cam, hope he's back for another year.
  12. Capuano pitches two scoreless innings for Helena allowing one hit, zero walks and striking out one. Burgos took over after and has pitched five scoreless innings with seven K's. Unfortunately Helena has only one hit.
  13. New rankings Lopez is still type A.
  14. Merklinger and Fiers with 12 K's and only one hit allowed through 8 innings tonight! Merklinger with 4 walks, but not bad!
  15. I'm looking on the bright side. At least I don't have to get nervous about the outcome and I can turn the game off without missing something good. I'll periodically turn it back on to see how close/not close they are, but I'm not losing any sleep over this.
  16. We've already done better against Carpenter tonight than the last time he pitched against us.
  17. I believe that song has a kick ass guitar solo in the beginning.
  18. So is Rivera back to being Parra's catcher after one start with Bush.
  19. Exactly how I feel. I probably wouldn't trade him because he's cheap and at the very least is a decent-ish back of the rotation guy that would prevent us from spending wasting money on the Looper's of the world. But he's going to be 27 in a few months. There's not much potential left in there.
  20. Yeah, I don't get that. And if Hardy is going to play over Escobar, they can send Escobar down to help them get into the playoffs and let Gamel play.
  21. Looper better not be back next year which has been suggested by writers. That $6M can be better spent elsewhere.
  22. Gerut is a cheap and much better option than Patterson.
  23. You know, the Cardinals are throwing an extreme ground ball pitcher tonight. So wouldn't it be a smart idea to put some speed in the lineup to try and beat out some ground balls? No, we'll actually start one of the slowest players in the majors instead.
