    We didn't find out right away. Remember there was the Heyman twitter that guessed it was the Brewers that claimed him and then articles following that up by making the guess that we claimed him? Then the next day it came out that we did. I'd imagine we find out tomorrow who claimed him. A team that hasn't been mentioned (if it has, I missed it) is the Marlins. They're only 4.5 games out of the wildcard. I could see them trying to add some bullpen help.

    I don't think so. If he did, we probably would've heard about it when he signed the contract. And if he did, we would be hearing how the Brewers would be taking offers and would be likely to trade him to get something for him not that it's "unlikely a deal will get done."

    I like him. What about Mike Stutes? Baseball America says he has the best slider in Phillies' system, he has a low 90s fastball as well as a change and curve and holding his own in AA a year after being drafted. He doesn't have a ton of upside though, which is his biggest knock. So would anybody do Bastardo and Stutes for Hoffman if the Phillies are the team that claimed him?

    I didn't realize that Gindl now has 18 steals to only 4 caught stealing.

    Not to take it off topic, but that's a weak excuse. We lost Suppan, Bush and Weeks. Counsell and McGehee filled in fine until we got Lopez who has been just as good. The depth was weak beyond the starting 5 which wasn't that good to begin with, that's on Melvin.

    Again, what's the point of trading for Fielder if you're the Red Sox? To strengthen the team. If they're trading Fielder for Lester it's minimal strengthening at best and doesn't make the trade worthwhile. Same for any other team. You're just not going to get talent currently in the majors for him.

    There's no way we get Lester for Fielder. Even straight up. If a team is trading for Fielder, they're going to use it to strengthen their major league roster, which means almost all of their major leaguers are out. Think top prospects high in the minors.
