  1. I think when he said "Chippa-Waffles" this time it was a joke. The first time he said it was in Cincinnati, Brian made fun of him so I guess he was having a "laugh at yourself" kind of moment. Six strikeouts is a career high for Karstens. Any shock that it came against us? He had 17 strikeouts in 45 innings coming into the game today.
  2. Well they could've done this. Keep Gross and Gwynn until Cameron came back. Cameron comes back, Gwynn gets sent down. Turnbow gets DFA'd, Brewers call up Stetter, Dillard, DiFelice, whoever. Go with this team. Sheets Gallardo Parra Suppan Bush Villanueva Riske Mota Torres Shouse McClung Whoever they called up for Turnbow Kendall Fielder Weeks Hardy Hall Braun Cameron Hart Rivera Gross Kapler Counsell Dillon Then you can send Dillon down for the platoon of Branyan/Hall like we did anyways. That seems like a better plan to keep your best players on the field and not selling them for spare parts because there's a percieved "roster crunch."
  3. Nice at bats Braun and Prince. Cy Karstens.
  4. Bill Schroeder would not be happy about that at all.
  5. So glad Durham is at the top of the lineup. What, with all those great professional at bats, like his pop out on a bunt attempt and his popout to SS with a runner on 2nd and nobody out.
  6. Oh please. Obviously he wasn't traded for "nothing" but the player he was traded for sucks. That's pretty close to nothing.
  7. Counsell showing the power that comes once every 100 at bats.
  8. Nice job Bush. Stop walking people. Especially the pitcher on 4 pitches.
  9. Management did. They could've optioned Gwynn and kept Gross. That made more sense than trading Gross for nothing, keeping Gwynn on the roster and then optioning Gwynn later anyways.
  10. BRAUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! INSIDE THE PARK HOMER!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
  11. Yeah! More bunting please!!!!
  12. REED JOHNSON!!!!!! 2-0 Cubs.
  13. Casey McGehee doubles on a sharp line drive to left fielder Nick Evans. Kosuke Fukudome doubles on a sharp line drive to right fielder Ryan Church. Casey McGehee scores. *pumps fist* 1-0 Cubs.
  14. Just had on TMJ4 news with Rod Burks live from Miller Park. It looks like they're giving out those towels again this year. They're learning though, this time it has the Brewers logo and Go Brewers written on it.
  15. I don't think anybody has said strikeouts aren't bad for a hitter. Obviously they are, since the hitter made an out. The argument is about are strikeouts really that much worse than a ground out or a fly out. Obviously strikeouts are worse than a fly out when there's a runner on third and one out. Just like ground outs are worse than strikeouts when there's runners on first and second with one out. One of the reasons strikeouts are looked at for a pitcher is because they don't have to rely on the defense behind them to make a play. If you have a terrible defense behind you, you're obviously going to want to strikeout as many guys as you can. If you have a good defense behind you, then it's still good to strikeout guys since even the best defenders make errors but it isn't as "necessary" to strike them out since the defense will help you out more.
  16. I don't really want to make a new topic on this but the Cubs have switched around their rotation to get it ready for the playoffs. Against the Mets: Marshall, Zambrano, Harden Against the Brewers: Lilly, Dempster, Marquis
  17. They already did a coin flip. It would be at Shea.
  18. Double plays disagree.
  19. Lee homers! 7-2 Cubs.
  20. I'm an idiot. MARQUIS GRAND SLAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
