  1. I'm going to make a Brewers acquire Jacob Nottingham thread on the Major League Forum right now.
  2. Ferris Bueller reference and nobody in the booth other than the guy who quoted it gets it. Terrible broadcast.
  3. he had no errors last year. Neither did I. Doesn't mean I wouldn't be bad defensively.
  4. I suspect this trade might be up there already. Not even close. We gave up 2 serious arms in the deal. JP is 1.7 WAR this year. It's a good deal because we were desperate for offense, but it's not a steal like the Yelich deal. We gave up two relievers. One is a 28 year old sort of getting by on smoke and mirrors and the other is a 25 year old who has already had two Tommy John surgeries. In return we got a 25 year old shortstop who has nearly 8 WAR in a little over two seasons worth of plate appearances.
  5. Gonna tell my students that 5+5 is 10,000 and I'll still be better at my job than CB Bucknor.
  6. They're struggling because Counsell put out a lineup that sucks. 1-4 is okay but it's hard to really get anything going when over half of your lineup is basically an automatic out. Saying "it's just baseball" doesn't really fly here. Of course it does. It happens all the time. He put out a similar lineup the other day and scored plenty of runs. They have also lost games with the "A" lineup. Yes, sometimes a lineup this bad will score a good amount of runs. Usually a lineup this bad will struggle to score runs, like today. They're not struggling because they're facing a soft tossing lefty, they're struggling because they suck and the most likely outcome in a game with this many bad hitters is the team struggling to score runs.

  8. We're struggling because Counsell put out a give up lineup for this game. 5-9 in our lineup are basically automatic outs. 1-4 haven't exactly hit either. It's just baseball, they aren't going to win every game even against the Pirates. Not really the point. 5-8 are all hitting under .200 and 3 of the 4 have OBPs at .265 or below and the other is only .307. Add the pitcher on to that and the lineup is just littered with easy outs. 1-4 isn't great or even good for sure but it's a steaming trash heap starting at 5 in the lineup.

  10. Counsell trying his best to save Milwaukeeans from themselves by preventing free George Webb. I respect it.
  11. I think he's out and there's no way you can overturn the call on the field.
  12. I wonder how long pitchers keep sort of pitching around Yelich? Youcan get him to swing and miss now and it's not like he's driving the ball, so even if you give up contact, it's probably just going to be a single.
  13. We haven't beaten TBD yet this year. I'm not optimistic.
  14. I don't get the point of putting Northwoods League scores up. I mean, first of all, who cares? It's only a collegiate summer league and second when you only abbreviate the names, I have no idea what the teams are. ZKB beat LSD? Great. It was even worse when we didn't even have the tiny logos to try to figure out these teams.
  15. I'm dumb. Wrong thread.
  16. CC just doesn't have any other option but to recycle the same garbage over and over again, producing the same results over and over again. Right, because CC is the one in charge of calling players up.
  17. Beside Wong who isn't healthy?? It still hasn't led to a good offense. Taylor But your point is a good one especially when Counsell decides his 25 year old shortstop needs days off and decides to give him one the same day Narvaez isn't playing. Funny how things have changed. Yount started all 162 games in his age 32 season. Were players tougher 30+ years ago? But Taylor isn't going to play when Yelich, Cain and Garcia are able to. And when he did get a prolonged stretch of games, he struggled badly, so he's likely just a 4th outfielder that needs to be given good matchups.
  18. We're in trouble if we need guys who haven't hit since 2018 that badly.
  19. I don't think anyone advocating (and I think that's probably too strong of a word for it) would do it because Hosmer is good or even mediocre. They'd do it because we would only owe $59 million over 4 years instead of $188 million over 7. When we don't spend a lot of money to begin with, that's a huge chunk of change. Whether they would do something worth the cost savings we would be getting is up for debate and I'm not sure I would do it but it at least warrants consideration.
