  1. I honestly can't decide whether the Reds wanted to keep Antone in the game or felt bad for Lindblom.
  2. Hiura - 36.0% K Yelich - 35.8% K The only difference is Yelich has a .500 BABIP.
  3. These announcers. We talked about Narvaez earlier. Well Shaw is giving him a run for his money on best offensive player on the Brewers as his .664 OPS pops up on the screen. I mean, Jesus, dudes.
  4. Decent defender is selling Adames far short, but I think the rest of your take is spot on. I didn't have a chance to look and I thought there might have been some questions coming up if he could stay at short so I went for the middle ground. Although even if he was below average, it's not like Urias isn't below average either.
  5. Can we take the Grisham trade back and just do this one instead? Because it's kind of funny that we got a league average hitter who's a decent defender at shortstop for a couple relievers while we had to give up Grisham for Urias.
  6. Does it annoy anyone else that MLB Network is basically just a national Dodgers network? I get their options for games are limited late at night but I can’t remember the last time they had a late night game that didn’t involve the Dodgers and it’s just really annoying to me. There are plenty of other interesting teams on the West Coast that could be showcased and they never are.
  7. It might just be time to face facts that Stearns doesn't evaluate offensive talent especially well. Susac was part of the Will Smith trade and we thought at minimum we would be getting a backup catcher as he was a league average hitter in his age 24-25 seasons with the Giants. Instead we got a 10 OPS+ spread over 3 years and 57 plate appearances. We thought we might be getting a starting catcher in Jacob Nottingham in the Khris Davis trade and Stearns has DFA'd him twice. He traded Jean Segura and Segura immediately became a good hitter. Remember Jett Bandy? I didn't until I just looked up Stearns' transaction history. He non-tendered Jonathan Schoop after trading for him because he was so bad. He traded Aguilar for Jake Faria. We obviously know about Urias/Grisham and the old and mediocre guys he's signed the last couple years. There have obviously been some hits but there are a lot of bad misses that you can't have when your farm system isn't giving you anything.
  8. Collectively, all at once? And coupled with others that performed below expectations after arriving? What are the odds of that? Again, isn't the more likely/logical explanation that something about the Brewers' approach/strategy isn't working right? Yes? I don't know if you noticed but Smoak had to go to Japan and Sogard and Holt are in the majors with different teams and still not hitting. Maybe dumpster diving on a bunch of old and/or mediocre hitters wasn't the best strategy. The only player I was legitimately surprised at having a bad year last year was Narvaez and he's been by far our best hitter this year with the same coaches.
  9. I would venture to guess. So nothing definitive, then. Perhaps, but it seems the most logical explanation here. Either you can believe that our front office, who prior to last year had proven exceptionally good at their jobs, suddenly started bringing in only talent that was on the precipice of cliffing in their careers on a wide-spread level across multiple players and positions, or the coaches working with those guys aren't helping them. Or worse, perhaps hurting them. One of those explanations seems logical, the other far less so. Smoak, Sogard and Holt were all in their 30s when they signed. Would it be a shock if they couldn't hit anymore? From 2017-19 JBJ hit .234/.318/.409. Sure he's probably not this bad but it's not like we were getting an offensive dynamo here and getting a below average hitter was probably just as if not more likely than getting an above average one. Garcia had a two year stretch where he hit .252/.308/.374 in what should've been his prime and with the obvious outlier being one season the most you could reasonably expect is a slightly above average offensive performance and there is a history of getting below average offensive performance. There's a reason these guys were available for one year deals or cheap-ish two year deals.
  10. Just in case you want to feel worse about this series, the two wins by the Royals against the Brewers matches the number of wins they had in their last 15 games. And they did it when we threw Woodruff and Burnes at them.
  11. Stearns: Hey Jeremy, we have a spot for you. Jeremy: Who is this? Stearns: This is David Stearns, GM of the Brewers. Jeremy: *Pulls up BR, Fangraphs, Statcast, etc.* Nah, you know what, man? I think I'm good not playing right now.
  12. This game is torturous enough. There is no need to play The Beatles to exacerbate the torture.
  13. Weird how Lepay and Schroeder don't complain when the Brewers get the benefit of a call.
  14. Well, at least Feyereisen looked better than Prince Fielder trying to field that bunt in game 5 in the 9th inning of the 2011 NLDS.
  15. And go with who? Counsell is now Generic Manager so he's not going to use Hader. Williams isn't good and neither is anybody else.
  16. I think the problem is there is no "warning" system in MLB. In the NBA if you argue or something it's a technical so the other team gets a free throw and you're one technical away from an ejection. You can get a 15 yard penalty in the NFL which likely kills a drive on offense or gets the offense a significant chunk of yards to get closer to scoring if you're on defense. In hockey you can be penalized. There's nothing like that in MLB. I guess you could give a team a free baserunner or something but even that player is fairly unlikely to score.
  17. Twins threw behind Mercedes tonight. This was TLR's response. I don't know how you keep this clown. He's just telling teams to go and throw at his players based on any perceived slight. Would legitimately consider not taking the field if I was a player until this asshat is fired.
  18. Let's look on the bright side. With that hit in the 9th the Brewers' hit total managed to match their error total.
