  1. Ugh, Kendall, Counsell, McClung. Poetic but not very productive at the bottom.
  2. If we're talking about defense, that seems to be a talent that certain players have over other players. Defense can certainly be improved upon in the minors, as can offense. I'd say drafting is the reason we have bat-heavy light-fielding players currently on the roster. That's not to say it was necessarily an error to draft better hitters. We still have a better record than the Twins on the season, which doesn't mean we're better, only that their "strategy" in and of itself doesn't necessarily make them a better team.
  3. however I don't think it is very responsible to pretend to know the overall attitude of the Brewers' clubhouse day in and day out after wins and losses, based on a one-time visit. Exactly FTJ. It was the "this team is going nowhere" sentiment that was not believable. How can any observer come to that conclusion just by being in the clubhouse for even a few days? The general consensus in the Wildcard thread is that the Brewers are in pretty good position to contend for the wild card if the Cubs should keep going at their fevered pace. I said earlier in the thread that no one (general public) will remember Justice's prediction by season's end but hopefully we can dig this back up after a successful playoff run and call his prediction silly because he averred his statement as fact.
  4. I'm a big fan of Torrey Pines and it looks really tough with the shaved edges around the green. Should see some great birdies and some almost not-fair double bogeys. The cream shall rise to the top in this US Open.
  5. Yeah, we're not fans of Minnesotans vacationing in our state but we gladly take their money! I didn't even consider the Bears a big rival until a couple years ago, the Vikings rivalry was all that mattered. That said, I don't mind rooting for the Twins against hated AL teams.
  6. The biggest problem is he proclaimed the team going "nowhere" because of his perception of poor clubhouse atmosphere. Many people who read his blurb will assume he's correct but if the Brewers come back and win 88 games, Richard Justice's proclamation will be lost in the ether of sports journalism nothingness and forgotten.
  7. Yeah Ausmus and Everett might not have hurt the team, in that considering their defense and offense together made them league average (or thereabouts) players but that starting rotation was fantastic. That's like saying Robert Horry is one of the best players in the NBA.
  8. Yay, televised Brewer games in Minnesota! Going to the bar to root for the Brewers in front of all the Twins fans.
  9. They're nice to talk about, but they couldn't make the big leagues for a long time for a reason. Like Dillon's back problems that just cleared up a year or two ago? <----------- Don't mess with Crazy Joe Dillon http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  10. Exactly, he probably made his way thru the Brewers locker room one time while heading to the buffet and is basing his critical analysis of the Brewers 2008 hopes on that 5 minutes.
  11. I'll be there Friday and Saturday night most likely just in general admission. I should have a rather large group of friends with me as I had last year. As for Twins : Brewers ratio, I'd say it was maybe 7 : 4. The Brewers fans really made their presence felt last year, Jenks granny, Fielder ITPH. There was a pretty cool bar I believe at Seven Corners with lots of outdoor seating space and foosball and pool inside where many Brewers fans congregated after the Saturday game last year. I can't find the name of the place but I'm sure it was at Seven Corners.
  12. There tends to be bad vibes in the clubhouse after losses. There have been many losses in the month before the last 2 weeks. I've no idea how Richard Justice can proclaim the team going nowhere based on the locker room after losses.
  13. Hasn't there has been some mention in the JS about locking up "other players", including Hart? Hart really looks like a solid and consistent player and could be our CFer for 2009 on, allowing LaPorta to play LF, with Braun shifting to RF. Buying out one FA year would make the deal worthwhile for the Brewers.
  14. *Stands and applaud Ben Sheets* Seriously, Sheets has been fantastic this season. And for all those who said we need our ace to be great to be a winning club, here we are hovering right around .500 again despite all of Benny's best efforts.
  15. Gagne wasn't even really a high risk option either, unless you lie awake at night fretting about Attanasio's pocketbook.
  16. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Weaver allows the date to be pushed back again. The decision really doesn't involve McClung anymore IMO. I still think it'd be good to keep Weaver in case of injury so I guess we'll see what happens by June 15.
  17. Why leadoff with Hart? Nice little comeback boys, Manny it's your turn the next half inning.
  18. We always knew baseball was a game of inches.
  19. OSS, the sarcasm is dripping from the ceiling in here!
  20. no lineups yet? Ned is hard at work! http://images.usatoday.com/sports/_photos/2007/05/03/brewers-yost2xx.jpg "Hmmmm.... does Corey Hart remember how to hit first?"
  21. Yeah I'm pretty sure Hall would be happy to get regular playing time again.
  22. Brian Roberts anyone? The asking price probably just went up a bit.
  23. Zambrano's deal was worth just over 18 mil per year, Sheets' production is comparable but obviously has a little more injury history than Zambrano. Still, Zambrano accepted less than he could've had. I imagine Sheets would get no less than $16 mil per season on the open market.
  24. So is he admitting he shouldn't have left Mota in there for the Washington game? I was gonna point this out too but I couldn't remember if he had anybody else available in that situation. Yost can't take two steps without contradicting himself.
  25. Hotel guests... especially ones that come to the desk and checkout, then tell me they will vacate the room in an hour, after I've already checked them out in the system and can't check them back in. Also, when callers trying to set a reservation ask me the same question several times, forcing me to give them the same answer several times. Also when people call and ask to book a reservation and upon asking them for their arrival date they have to think about it or scrounge around for the actual date. Seriously, isn't that something you should've had figured out before wasting my time? Didn't they think I'd have to know that information to book a room for them? Or are they just pretending to have to think about it? Oh and people that call and give me their full name and where they are from immediately. Am I supposed to recognize who they are? I take about 75-100 calls per day, I don't care what your name is until I ask for it. Oh, and humidity.
