  1. I'm in, I will be going to the Apr 6 game too!
  2. Capuano still believes he can pitch. Hell, he pitched pretty damn well yesterday. Obviously we'd like to see him be consistently good, but he is still able. Athletes often go through struggles and come back to put up excellent seasons. I'm not saying Cappy should be in the rotation, but he has just as good a shot as Bush IMO. Amazing how we've gone from proclaiming Capuano as our ace to calling for him to be DFA'd in 2 short years.
  3. I believe I won last year's pool, so here's to defense of the title!
  4. I wouldn't be surprised it there was a bit of a reluctance to move Hart around. Me niether. Melvin already thinks they are "over-moving" their players. Still can't we let Gross play CF? I don't think Hart and Braun will have that much trouble covering gaps, both have plus speed and Gross, while he had a couple of head-scratchers last season, isn't bad defensively at all IMO. I would give Gwynn some starts in CF but I'd have Gross out there at least 2/3 of the time.
  5. Yeah, I really want Cappy to be good and I'm hoping he turns it around. But if you have someone who looks to be ineffective and you have plenty of depth...
  6. True, numbers don't mean everything, but the rumors out of ST are that Cappy has not looked great as far as velocity is concerned.
  7. However, isn't a hanging curve easier to hit than a nasty slider? There is a difference between a lazer beam that careens off the right-center field wall and a slow dribbler to 1st. The difference you're describing here I would guess would be seen in SLG% against, HR% and/or HR/FB% for a pitcher moreso than in BABIP.
  8. This is the type of game where a REAL ace puts the pedal down and keeps the winning going. Tune in next week for: This is the type of game where a real ace dominates and stops the losing streak.
  9. Wouldn't the extra runs come from more runners being on base for the top of the lineup, ie not just from eliminating double plays?
  10. Really cool story. Being good people earns you little surprises every now and then.
  11. It has to do with amount of MLB service time, I believe.
  12. How's the ankle healing Jason? We need you swift and agile for 2008.
  13. Must win! Capuano has to show that he is a winner!
  14. There's no point in having any hope for Turnbow. He obviously stinks and will always stink. Let's bring someone else in that we can hate for being an above average RP.
  15. Moving Villy to AAA and hanging onto Vargas gives the Brewers insurance against catasrophic injury and lets them hold onto Vargas and possibly get something worthwhile in a trade. Vargas would likely only see Dessens type outings anyway, and as we get into the season, teams will need starting pitching.
  16. If the Brewers were an 80s TV show, this would be where Bill Hall would snidely say: "Time to switch to decaf, Ned!"
  17. 2 or 3 game difference in wins we would get from him as opposed to Bush or Vargas may determine whether or not we're in the playoffs. That's highly debatable, however. Bush could be worth 2-3 wins over what Villy gives us this season. Bush & Villy project very similarly.
  18. You'd need to release or trade Vargas under that scenario, as well. Parra is not starting the year in the rotation, and since we don't have room for him in the bullpen either, he will be in AAA to start the year. Villy could be also, but I think the Brewers unload Vargas to make sure he's on the ML roster (or stash Varg on DL). Then the question becomes which of Villy or Bush do you use out of the pen? At least Villy has been a reliever, whereas Bush has been knocked around in his few bullpen outings. I'm pretty sure we're going to see: Sheets Suppan Villanueva Capuano Bush to start the season, and then replace Villy with Yo when he comes back, sending Villy to the pen. I'm not saying I would take Bush over Villy in the rotation, but that's how I see it shaking out.
  19. Now, it's almost even money that Prince will leave, barring a major breakthough in the offseason after 2008. Being generous, I don't think the odds were ever as good as even money to keep Prince past his arby years.
  20. Showering. I'll say buying clothes. It irks me when people spend so much money on their wardrobe.
  21. Terrific graphics as always Woog. That graphic with the teams and pitchers looks uber-professional.
