  1. wow, wtg Corey, couldn't we have a baserunner or two on for one of these HRs?
  2. I think Graffy read the last page of posts before his AB, wtg Tony!
  3. Johnny just can't hit in the 5 hole with all the depth in this lineup. There's no reason to bat him above Bill Hall, Gabe Gross, Corey Hart or Geoff Jenkins. I'm fine with the offense he provides as a catcher, but there's no need to hit him so high.
  4. Eh, it was a good night to do some hard drinking anyway.
  5. I think just about everyone would rather have Jenkins or Hall batting 5th rather than Estrada.
  6. I could zing one into Edmonds grill and then drop the curve on him. Give me a ring Ned!
  7. if we don't win today, I'm going to hold my breath until they give in!
  8. if this is a film version of the book, i'm mortified...i have no idea how that could be made into a decent movie on any level and maintain the level of energy present in the book... The structure doesn't set up well for a film. Whoever's making the film would obviously have to pick and choose what to focus on and maybe reorder some scenes, which could compromise the original material. I don't know how they'd make a film out of the book, but if it could be well done, I'd like to see it.
  9. But, hey, "On the Road" is coming in 2009! Is that going to be a film version of Jack Kerouac's book? Hadn't heard about it, but that would be awesome, love the book. The last movie I watched in the theater was The Departed and nothing except Grindhouse has made me even want to go. Pirates, Shrek and Spidey I can do without. The next movie I'll see in theater will be on July 27th... I'm sure most of you can guess what movie I'll be seeing.
  10. I was always under the impression that these were already good movies! Guess not, love those, also I think they're good, but the plots aren't nearly as good as the plot of Tommy Boy IMO. But they made me laugh harder at times, like in Black Sheep when he fell down that hill, I almost laughed myself to death. Another one of my favs is The Cable Guy with Jim Carrey and Matthew Broderick, not sure if that's considered a "good" or "bad" movie, but I like how it's shot and Carrey is hilarious.
  11. Smoltz was moved into the closer role, not sure if he was ever "mop-up duty," but ICBW. After tonight, Braun will have faced Greg Maddux, Jake Peavy and John Smoltz all in his first week in the bigs. Tough.
  12. A post like this was a long time coming. Brewerfan.net is an awesome website and this forum is the best I've ever come across. My patience also waned at ESPN and it's refreshing to visit a forum that isn't littered with insults and non-sensical ramblings, and is littered with sane discussion, statistical wisdom and genuine shared Brewer love. Growing up in western Wisconsin made it hard to find a lot of die hard Brewer fans I could talk baseball with and Brewerfan.net has provided that.
  13. I'm just waiting for the IGT to be filled with these sentiments. By my count, every start so far this year has been a "true test" for Sheets according to a few here on BF.net. One game isn't going to prove anything either way for Sheets, but I sure would like to see Ben dominate tonight. Looking forward to the game (wish it was on TBS again), I believe Smoltz and Sheets both threw dandies against each other late last season at MP, and IIRC, Turnbow blew a tie game or a one run lead? I think that was the day I officially gave up on the Brewers playoffs hopes last season http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. GH3!! Soundtrack looks decent, I'm surprised that there isn't crap music all over. Been playing GH2 on 360, tons of fun. Nice to see Queens of the Stone Age included. I'm not that good at the game yet, just kinda picked it up, but I can see how addictive it is.
  15. Baseketball Black Sheep Almost Heroes (and no, Tommy Boy isn't a bad movie) The Quest (with Jean-Claude Van Damme) Event Horizon I'm kind of a film snob/elitist but I do like many bad movies. I just don't like bad movies that sell a lot of tickets/DVDs just because they have "name" actors, simple plot, sufficient action and aggressive marketing.
  16. something good happen today, please?
  17. His sole point was the cost of gasoline, not the ethics of using it. If you are going to have this boat and something to pull it, you're likely not as worried about low gas mileage in your vehicle as the next guy who works minimum wage and has to drive 15-30 miles to work every day, EDIT: assuming all moral and environmental dilemmas were equal on either side.
  18. I'd guess that this is just the start of giving Rickie more regular days off to keep his wrist from becoming sore/irritated. I'm glad they flip-flopped JJ and Braun, I was just thinking about that yesterday but didn't think Yost would do it so soon!
  19. I think woogster is away from his computer for the weekend. We'll have to "suffer" through a IGT sans graphics. Really would make me feel better about this trip if we won the getaway game today. Go Crew!
  20. I'm tired of the Brewers getting behind early and me feeling like they have no chance of catching up. Win today please? Or even just grab the lead for an inning or two (make it the 8th and 9th innings).
  21. haven't made any predictions in awhile so here goes: Hardy 3-for-4, 1 HR, 3 RBI Weeks 2-for-4, 2 R, SB, 2B Capuano 7 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 5 K
  22. Count me in for the "Draft Mike Conley Jr." bandwagon. To be a contender in the NBA, you need a point guard that can break down defenses with the dribble, get out and run, and pass the ball. Conley looks to be the closest thing to Chris Paul, Steve Nash, Tony Parker. And the kid can shoot, too. Conley can be built around. We need someone that can get Mike Redd the ball in positions to score; he's had to work too hard for his shots. I agree about Mo Williams. He's a nice player, but he plays more like a 2 guard and if you look at all the teams still playing, they all have a great penetrator/distributor at PG (Parker, Deron Williams, Chauncey Billups, Lebron James/Larry Hughes) plus there are the teams just bounced out (Nash, Kidd, Hinrich, Baron Davis). Horford or Brandan Wright would fit in real nice though too.
  23. I think I'd be forced to vote for myself http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Seriously, though, I'd have to go with Rluz also with honorable mention to the OP Sbrylski.
  24. glarg! Bucks got hosed! What about Conley at 6? Trade up a couple spots to take Horford?
