  1. Their outside shooting was horrendous, specifically from Carlino. Taylor missed atleast 3 baskets from 0 feet away. Johnson's missed dunk. There is alot that needs to be worked on. I agree on Derek Wilson, he is playing way too much.
  2. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7SqplVHNBmI/SdD6MynHQbI/AAAAAAAAAII/HkfjsJ5Cik8/s400/Eric+Gagne.bmp Gagne was an obvious mistake. But judging Melvin's body of work over a decade-plus in MIL, Briggs' point is spot on. Its OK to take a flier and make a 1 year mistake. Its much different to be stuck with a LOOGY for 3 years at an average of 5 million per.
  3. there will be relievers available in February. Through out all of my years of watching baseball, I have learned that the most difficult position to predict performance is relief pitcher. The brewers have caught lightening in a bottle many times with the likes of Doug Jones, Derrick Turnbow, Doug Henry, Dan Kolb and so on only to have them fall apart eventually. Rare is the relief pitcher that is consistent from year to year. To give a guy like Duke 3 years is crazy. Melvin has been good about not giving relievers 2 year deals, as they never seem to work out, like David Riske or Hawkins who had a good 2nd year, was hurt for most of his 1st season.
  4. I agree with Melvin's strategy. They have rarely given FA relievers 2 year + deals and when they have they have never worked out. That is way too much money for basically a LOOGY, even though i was a big fan of him not only during his time in Milwaukee but as a Pirate too.
  5. sad to see him go, but he did not have a good 2nd half. Good luck to him. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/11/18/white-sox-sign-zach-duke/ brewers down to only Smith as a LHP though.
  6. if the NBA buys the bucks back and sells them to the highest bidder, the only winners are the other NBA owners as they would all get 1/29th of atleast a billion and probably much more than that. Its still to Edens and Lasry's interest to get this done though.
  7. Melvin better not let him get to free agency then,it always only takes one and judging from today, one GM is crazy enough to overpay for any freeagent.
  8. I think MU could be a NIT team, which would be a solid first year for Wojo, since everyone knows that 2015-16 is when expectations will be sky high. A deep NIT run could be a solid launching pad for next year, as most of the key players will be back as well. I am really looking forward to the Ohio State game to get a better gauge on how good this team can be.
  9. brewers have traded Zach Quintana to the braves for OF Kyle Wren
  10. I am excited too Dhonks, the issue is that they have no size on this team. I am excited to see Duane Wilson finally make his MU debut. I look to Steve Taylor to have a big season as Buzz really misplayed him last season. I think they will be better than most are expecting, but to only have one player over 6'7" and he can't play for the first month of the season is going to make it tough to compete against most teams in the conference.
  11. no i do not, this is why i have never heard of them, but i believe bringing in a band like this would do little in Milwaukee to move the needle on a Saturday night.
  12. I looked up who the Rays had last season, they featured Carly Rae Jepson, Martina McBride, and Imagination Movers. I can't say I heard of Imagination Movers (I am assuming they are a new alternative band) but this is the level of talent / fame I would expect the brewers could / would get.
  13. good point, i don't see how they could do them in CF and have the field ready for play the next afternoon. I also wonder how long it would take to set up the stage for this concert after the game. The Nashville Sounds had many postgame concerts, so I am sure there is a way to do it, will be interesting to see how it is done.
  14. the thing that is odd is that these games the brewers should be able to draw 40K+ without any promotions as Saturday nights during the summer always sell out. Its hard to find an act that even half the crowd would want to stick around for as there are so many different tastes in music. The bands that would appeal me wouldn't for probably 80-90% of the rest of the crowd.
  15. http://brewers.mlblogs.com/2014/11/12/brewers-postgame-concert-series-presented-by-miller-lite-set-for-2015/ will be interesting to see who the brewers bring in. I know the admirals have great success with that but really only focuses on country music and older rock bands. The brewers should have more punch to bring in larger acts. We should find out later this month.
  16. not at all, they are trying to win games. Its a new ownership that needs to get community support for a new arena, I don't think the bucks have any interest in tanking this season
  17. with national signing day today, very interesting that Virginia Tech now has a top 20 class after being in the 40's for most of the recruiting period after getting 2 4 star recruits Marquette is #5 and UW checks in at 27.
  18. another game that Middleton cannot get onto the court, I don't understand how he is not in the rotation. Really my only complaint with Kidd so far after 2 weeks.
  19. judging from Raw last night, I think its Harper instead of Cesaro, but I agree underwhelming.
  20. On that note, is Mark Loretta coaching anywhere? Him, Cirillo, Matheny, and Counsell were the 4 I was referring too
  21. there has been a handful of players that I thought were managerial material while here, and Craig is one of them, no matter his stats. The brewers had one of the best hitters (Carew) and pitchers (Stewart) ever as hitting and pitching coaches and got nowhere. He has a high baseball intellect while makes him attractive.
  22. Well they haven't replace Iorg yet, of course we have no idea who is under consideration. I wanted Counsell to be considered for the brewers managerial job if Roenicke wasn't brought back. If the brewers see a future in coaching for him, maybe they would add him to the staff. I think there is some reason why he doesn't have a job yet, he has been interviewing for jobs for many offseasons without a hit.
  23. i think it just comes down to what style you prefer chad. I enjoy less "straight sports talk" as I find it boring and repetitive, which is why i rarely have 1250 on. I do put the WSSP postgame show on my way home from the stadium though and I do enjoy Tim Allen.
  24. Jim Rome is the only sports talk show I listen to regularly, and I'll put on the brewers post game show on WSSP on the way back from the brewers games.
  25. I don't mind the trade if it is for estrada
