  1. i never met uecker but have heard similar stories, i would wonder why the brewers would put him out there as a premium autograph if he was like that. The players i met today couldn't of been nicer. I think situations like the one foster had could put a sour face on the fans. There were alot of fans that i'd consider bandwagon jumpers from overhearing their conversations throughout the day and that may be something to keep them away form miller park this summer.
  2. i really liked it this year, even though it didn't get off to a good start in the beginning with the crazy busy line. I got Macha's autograph and he seems like a very nice guy for the minute i spent with him. The photo stations were really great, i got to meet hardy, coffee, bush, nelson, dillard, and rogers (didn't expect he'd be there and took me a second to figure out who he was but noone around me had any idea so i had to fill them in). Never waited for more than 20 minutes for any pic which i would rather have than an autograph anyway. as for the rummage sale i got there right at 10 and there were some jerseys. I was tempted to get a turnbow game worn. All were 75 and had the likes of yost, machado, gross, estrada lehr, etc. Game used bats were 25. I got a gabe gross autographed one. They had the i heart new york tshirts for 2. Also i kept the bobblehead collection moving with gantner and a yount one for 2 each.
  3. heck yes Godspeed, one of the true unknown gems of this city.
  4. definitely depends on how much you are wiling to spend and what you are going to be studying. If you are going to be an engineer major, i would get a PC. If you are going to be an art student, get a mac. Also how much are you looking to spend. The cheapest MAC laptop is 1 grand and PC's are probably half of that. If you going to use it only for downloading music, surfing the web, and storing pics, the MAC is the better choice. If you think you are going to do alot of hw on it, maybe a PC. when i was in college i had a MAC, because i liked them and it was a pain because i had to do all my lab work in the computer labs at school. Now i have a mac, but with the dual processor, its no longer an issue to me, as if i need to do something at home for work i can run vista on my MAC.
  5. atleast the team has a history of getting good radio / tv announcers, hopefully the trend continues, but its definitely a blow. Talking Brewers will not be the same on Saturday afternoon's in the winter and spring.
  6. yeah i remember in the dark days when they would finally reach 1 million in september and it would be a big thing. glad those days are a thing of the past.
  7. well i got them online and they were 19 w/ fees. Problem is that I work while they are open and really don't want to wait inline to get them at the door Saturday.
  8. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/clubhouse?team=mil its the first video in the player
  9. I am in the minority here, but i actually wanted him back. Definitely not at 10 million, but for 3 or 4. While he was healhy and not pitching the 9th, he was fine. Looking at the pen, there are tons of question marks. Would anyone really say they know for sure Jorge Julio will do better than Gagne, or if Riske can stay healthy all season.
  10. Jim Powell really is the only brewers announced out of the 4 that really incorporated the future prospects into his play by play. While I'd be upset if he leaves, most if not all of that I can get here. We also have a great track record of hiring broadcasters. I just hope this time we get a decent #2 that can still fill be inline to be the #1 once Uecker retires. I always hoped Powell would be that guy and he'd be here for a long time. By far my favorite broadcaster since i became a fan in '88.
  11. yeah wallce trying to get michael's secret out of him was great. the radar thing at the beginning funny and like usual creed had the best line when he said you're welcome when andy thanked everyone for not telling him about angela and dwight. Don't know why i found it to be so funny, minus that it came from Creed.
  12. well offensively ill give you (since nothing has changed). We do need a craig consell like UI though. The closer posiiton has improved. I think we will miss Shouse. The bigger problem is that if Sheets doesn't come back we are counting on someone who has roughtly one full season of mlb experience to lead the staff and our #2 is someone whose arm tired in the stretch last season. Also the bigger problem (and one that i have yet to hear mentioned) is if someone goes down, who do we have to fill in. We'd be relying on Villaneuva and really don't have options other than that. We need another starter.
  13. ). If you never listened to Brewer games and didn't know anything about Ueck or Powell, after listening to a game, you would have no idea who had the "top job" Uecker still gets to call the majority of the game. I think if i was in say Georgia and was listening to the brewers on XM, I'd still know Uecker has the top billing. Is this official? The last several posts on this thread make it sound like it's a done deal. I have not heard anything like that though. No, but the fact the brewers were accepting audition tapes last week makes it seem pretty likely.
  14. i agree, its probably my favorite part of espn. The blog on the debacle of a mets inaugural season at citi field is a must read.
  15. my guess would be hell's bells will be played but the lights will stay on.
  16. i was disappointed to discover that hell's bells is not available on itunes, i did find this gem though http://www.stumbleaudio.com/#wingsounds6/1
  17. wow, as pessimistic myself and many on the board were yesterday, mark a ponied up and made it happen. It proves that you can get players like him, if we are willing to overpay. I'm glad they did it. I was not looking forward into going into spring training with mcclung or cv as our closer.
  18. looks like it seems the brewers are atleast making a stronger push for Trevor. I think if we have to guarantee a 2nd year to get him, we should... http://www.fannation.com/...ogs/hot_stove/posts/38741
  19. i agree, while at the beginning of the off season i was hoping that sheets would go elsewhere and was content getting the 2 draft picks, it has become apparent that even with sheets injury history he is by far the best starter on the market. Also getting a veteran closer who only blew 4 saves last year would be another coo for melvin.
  20. i think its pretty crazy that the brewers have had 3 radio voices in the last 25 years. Its nice to have the same voice, who knows the team and the fan base. It would be sad to loose someone that has called games for 13 years.
  21. I hope he doesn't go, but if he does its going to be hard to find someone to replace him with spring training 6 weeks away. I haven't heard about this for a while and assumed the braves went a different way.
  22. The problem is that if they cannot sign Hoffman, there is no-one that has experience to do it. For the same reasons that the brewers sacrificed part of their future to get Sabathia, if the brewers really think that Cruz is the closer that could get them into the playoffs, I'm all for it. I don't think he is that guy though.
  23. 540 archives some of their stuff on the web. i'd check the website after the d list.
  24. Starters include: Looper, Wolf, Oliver Perez, Derrek Lowe (doubtful on Perez and Lowe as it would cost us a 1st) Relievers include: Hoffman, Lyon, Cruz (cost us a 1st) Brewers still looking to sign a Utility Infielder. Thinks we will sign some pitchers this month.
