  1. let JJ in, i'm sure he'd do it. Its disappointing that the top hr hitters won't do it. It be cool to see AROD and Prince going toe to to. Was Dunn ever invited?
  2. stupid me, freaking mondays i tell you, the brain's not working
  3. some predictions; round 1 leaders; Morneau, Howard, Fielder, Ordonez round 2 leaders; Howard, Fielder champ: Howard
  4. here is my guess. Suppan definately would not be signed and Villy would be in the rotation. Hall would still be moved to center. Therefore the question is who would be in right. Its very hard to project since there are 3 options. The easy guess is that its a platoon between Jenkins and Mench or Hart, with the other being off the team. Braun would of still found a way to play everyday at 3rd by now.
  5. he definitely has Braun slowing down this season. He has 10 HR's and 32 RBI's and is only projected at 19/65 with half the year yet. Those are great numbers for a rookie, but i think he will out do them. Especially if lefties continue to not be able to figure out how to get him out.
  6. 2 big blasts way to get it started beware of the power of pink i guess
  7. best part is that they have to play another one tonight, looks like the pen was not worn out as bad as one expected. I think it would of been different if there wasn't a second game. Some pitchers were left there to take a beating to save some of the pen for tonight.
  8. i know last year i was able to get a turnbow all star tshirt. Not sure if it was before or after the game though. Has anyone seen any all star player shirts around this year.
  9. well then back on topic, the only way id bring him up is if shouse was hurt and we had no other lefty out of the pen.
  10. minor thing woggie, but you have the pittsburgh fan sites up still. Love the pink, lets take atleast 2 this weekend.
  11. bc i think we are on the same page, and things got blown out of proportion. I agree that letting another potential starter sit in the pen and get lefties out here is not the best idea. Spurling is not a bad pitcher, (his ERA proves it). I just upset with Ned puts him in late inning situations when his closer and top set up man has yet to get into a game because they only come in when we are winning. Thats all.
  12. again i never said Spurling was a bad pitcher. All I said was if you look at the pen, and Melvin wanted to get rid of a pitcher, i would choose Spurling. Currently Cordero Turnbow Wise YoGo Villy Shouse (just barely) has more value in my opinion, than Spurling. Every reliever has cost us games. The better question is how oftern does it happen. Cordero was so good for so long, the fast he blew 2 straight relieve appearances, should be treated differently. If Parra i going to come up, one of the relievers needs to go down. If not Spurling and instead of trashing my opinion, suggest a different one.
  13. problem with that is i can think of 2 instances off the top of my head within a span of a week in which he directly caused us to loose (that sunday game in minnesota and then a week later against KC). I never said there isn't a role for him on this team. I did say if we were to DFA a pitcher out of our current pen, it be him.
  14. his pure numbers are OK. Where Ned uses him is not. He should not be pitching in the 9th or extra innings in a tie game, unless he is the last option. He would do fine at the Dessens' role, but Ned uses in a setup which is the problem.
  15. an extra lefty in the pen that is not a LOOGY would be nice. Id be happy to see Spurling go and let Manny have a chance. we'll see. If the argument against keeping in the rotation was to limit his innings. Therefore why would we want to have him throwing innings in AAA.
  16. possibly spurling could be DFA'd or there may be an injury that we don't know about. Possibly hall to dl and parra up for the final 3 games before the break since the pen got worn out in pittsburgh. Interesting news for sure. We could get by with 4 OF's for 3 days if that is the case.
  17. never understood it either, when you give a starter a 5 day suspension, you really only let him work on 5 days rest instead of 4. Especially with the dumb rule that you can appeal a suspension and then drop it whenever. It makes it easy to appeal until you make a start, then drop it, and pitch 6 days later. That rule i always felt should be changed.
  18. those were fun, i put them in the archived articles thread, but its better discussion in its own. The AL teams should come out at some point today.
  19. I believe by the end of the year he would. You need 3.1 AB's * your teams games. If he plays every day, he should be really close to that since you get 4 AB's per game and he missed about 1/3 of the season. I would not move him. Part of his production is because of who is behind him. If you move him to 5, there is noone behind him to protect him. Hes only a rooke, we have to put him in the best place to be productive. and thats at 3.
  20. i don't know why this gwynn thing gets blown out of proportion everytime it comes up. He had a hot start, he cooled off, he stunk in nashville. He is a backup OF. Thats what they do. They are inconsistent or else they would be starting. The alternatives are not any better. Gross has 2 hits in his last 32 AB's. Small sample size or not. If you start Jenks, Hart, and Mench, you still have to deal with the fact that Jenks doesn't traditionally hit lefties.
  21. i love baseball for the pure strategy that is played out during every game. No other sport comes close. Every day we get to debate the lineup Ned puts out there. In each other sport is basically the same starting lineup every game (baring injury). Then we have the in game decisions. When to pinch hit, when to have a pitching change. I love the fact that no game is ever over. There comes a time in each other sport where there isn't enough time to come back, not in baseball. There are tons more why baseball is by far my favorite sport, but thats a good start.
  22. he certainly didn't do much in Nashville to earn a call up. Hopefully he can spark the offense and this means that Ned does not move Corey out of the leadoff spot.
  23. id be interested in getting in the contest too, thanks Pedro.
  24. i was worried it was sheets that got hurt since gameday just says injury delay. what happened.
  25. we go back in september and there is an off day between the pittsburgh trip and the next city, so we could loose an off day and avoid a dh.
