  1. this is a big reason, i will give you. I wonder if the changes to the ball are giving pitchers so dominant secondary pitches.
  2. before MLB changed the ball, strikeouts were already had an increased rate, this only made it larger. I agree hitting is garbage, therefore to change the ball has now really made the issue more substantial. Its on the hitters to get the ball into play. Maybe its simply the hitters need to change their strategy at the plate, i Just know most baseball games are much harder to watch as opposed to a few seasons ago. Also Brewers have 3 starters that are striking out batters and an great rate, nobody knows how legit it is since its going on league-wide. You can't compare Burnes numbers to say Ben Sheets, because of how different the game is now.
  3. I think my biggest concern / beef is the strikeout rate. here are the numbers from this season by rate: week ending strikeout % 4-11 24.5 4-18 24.5 4-25 24.6 5-2 23.6 5-9 23.3 5-16 23.4 source: https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/yankees-corey-kluber-throws-mlbs-second-no-hitter-inside-24-hours-and-sixth-of-the-2021-season/ When i was a kid, a no-hitter watch was something special. you would stay up to see if the guy did it. mlb network would break in. now its more rare than a complete game where a starter gives up a run (there has been only 2 this season). i normally wouldn't care except for the fact that MLB has admitted to altering the ball last offseason, and we are seeing what is happening. i love a good pitching duel, but i love it because it doesn't happen every night.
  4. I don’t think there is an appropriate open thread so I’ll start one. I think MLB at this point needs to admit that they have an issue. No hitters are no longer special. We have had 6 in just over 6 weeks. I think they have to move the mound back to make some changes to the ball. I know they made changes to the ball, but whatever they did they have to dial it back. I love a well pitched games. Pitching battles are fun to watch, but they should be fun because they are not a daily occurrence. (EDIT: The title has been updated to try and reflect the content of the thread.)
  5. Big Sky wrapped up season 1 last night, its very good. But i did learn that Kelley is not producing season 2, so thats not a good sign. Only other show that i have been watching is Mare of Eastown which is also very good. Last Man Standing ends it run tomorrow which was really the last sitcom that i enjoyed on network TV.
  6. i didn't like the potential matchups against the Knicks or Hawks either. I guess i preferred Miami to the 3 other potential opponents if the bucks couldn't move up to 2.
  7. Didn’t realize Perez left the program too. Really hard to keep track of the roster of late. Would imagine Garcia comes back so they should be ok. Still surprised carton declares, have yet to see him in a mock draft mentioned.
  8. seems stupid to be giving up all of the potential revenue this season for something that is coming down next year. Also there may not be a baseball season, so good luck getting people to get your app next year to watch a sport that may not happen. Rather people are getting locked into other providers to watch baseball now. Technically if they were letting the cord cutters watch, they would still be getting revenue next season as people would most likely keep the service during a potential strike, rather than nobody signing up for a service that provides no content. its a dumb business plan.
  9. I'd do that in a second, but I can't see the Dodgers interested at all. I think teams still do that, but not with high profile, younger players.
  10. why wouldn't you give the ball to zimmerman after suter? He wasn't that bad on Sunday, granted Dodgers had little to play for at that point and he still surrendered some runs
  11. I guess my question continues to be- what have the Packers done at this point to be embarrassed about? Nothing. If you want to pick at straws its not letting your HOF QB know ahead of time you are drafting his replacement in the 1st round. That shouldn't cause a nuclear situation though. I think the tide in this state is turning from supporting A-rod to know supporting the Packers. We knew the situation wasn't good for some time now, but every day something petty that he did or was angry about comes out.
  12. that was for Round 1 only. Where I took umbrage of was in the later rounds when he trashed teams for not following his draft board. Also you grade a team an F for their draft while not giving any individual pick less than a C-.
  13. 1st base woah solvdd?
  14. I feel like 20 years ago the post draft grades were based on filling needs (ie I can't believe the packers took a OT when they needed a RB and player X was available, you get a C). , now if don't follow that bloggers draft boards you get dinged. Granted none of this matters, and its mostly just fun and banter for fans, but that website that I have been reading for probably 20 years, is pretty much unreadable these days. (to the point I think Walter, is no longer the original Walter????)
  15. The smart for Rodgers was to play this year, knowing that his cap hit was much lower next offseason and that the Packers eventually want to see what they have in Love. Packers would have probably helped facilitate a trade that he liked. Now both sides are dug in and I think the 2 most likely outcomes is that he retires or the Packers let him hold out, essentially ending his football career.
  16. Walterfootball gave the packers draft an F because they didn’t draft a receiver in the 1st and “reached” for Rodgers in the 3rd. I’m about done with that website, he is taking himself way too seriously
  17. Yeah I sure the packers would prefer him holding rather than trading him and opposing the packers at some point or even worse winning a super bowl. If the packers would trade him for a 22 1st and other picks, it would most likely be a late first anyway no matter where he goes
  18. These graders love to penalize teams if they don’t follow their draft board. I used to take a lot of credence is their grades, no more. It means nothing
  19. Looked up the trade value chart, seems about dead on that packers gave up an appropriate pick to move up to 85. Very slight overpay but you will never get it perfect
  20. i have long said, that I could be an NFL GM and always get an A the morning after a draft. I would also be fired in 2 years. you are right, feed the trolls and win the morning after draft grades.
  21. would it be nice to get another one, yes. Is it the most important need on the team, no by far. The have some good WR's that are developing and for the first time in a while a decent TE.
  22. I read on bleacher report that the Packers got an F for not drafting one of the 5 top WR's left on the board. Obviously the packers feel they can get one today, if thats the route the wanted to take. You are correct, that there are a decent amount of OL left too. Besides Samuel, I don't see that many top CB's left.
  23. there are some good OL on the board and if they can move up to the mid 2nd, the can get one. Get a WR in the 3rd and its a good 1st 2 days
