Anyone notice Counsell almost looks like a hitter this year. Last year it looked more like he was trying to jump out of the batters box and do a backflip he was reaching so high in the air. The bat is still high but it isn't as ridiculous and his swing looks a lot better because of it.

I hope the current rotation doesn't hold because here is how the starters line up as of today, going on 4 days rest:

3/31 - Sheets

4/1 - Off (Villanueva/Capuano's turn)

4/2 - Suppan

4/3 - Vargas

4/4 - Bush

4/5 - Sheets

4/6 - 5th starter

I read somewhere that Yost isn't going to skip the 5th starter, or try to get Sheets pitching on 4 days rest if they have an off day. So if that's the case, move all those starters up a spot with Villanueva/Capuano pitching on 4/2, and you have Vargas pitching the home opener! If that happens, I'm going to cry!! I highly doubt that happens, but you never know.

I'd be pretty surprised if Vargas was in the rotation. Wouldn't it most likely be Suppan, Bush, Sheets, Villanueva, Capuano with them trying to build up trade value for Capuano/Bush with early starts?

Counsell hitting .462 makes him a great utility guy for us. Nice career for a local kid not recruited to play college, didn't break in until 26 yrs old and is fundamentally perfect every single time he takes ground balls. A teammate to be watched and appreciated.

he also got an outfield assist. probably was the best OF arm in the org when he was with us.
