Chase Utley breaks hand/ Phillies Acquire Iguchi

Brewers will be facing the fighting Phils in a week.

 

Edit: And according to WSCR out of Chicago, they will have the former White Sox Second Sacker.....the Phils only have to give up an A-ball reliever named Michael Dubee - basically just taking on Iguchi's contract.

True the Brewers face the Phillies but we only get them for 3 games while the Cubs get them for 4 games.

Well, they didn't have Howard the first time we faced them and that didn't make much of a difference.

That's a pretty major blow. They're just getting ready to start making serious noise once Myers comes back. Now, they lose the guy who has probably been the best player in the NL this year. Burrell's been absolutely on fire lately, so maybe it won't crush them initially.

 

Not to mention, this also creates another player in the market for a second baseman just in case the Brewers were thinking about making a move for a rental.

In a pennant race with my fantasy team and now Utley goes down just when Tejada was coming back. At least I picked up Braun this year to take care of 3B for years to come.

I hate to see players get hurt, but the 2nd place team in the NL Central will be in the chase for the wildcard. Losing Utley hurts the Phillies chances of competing for that playoff spot.

Iguchi's a nice little addition for them. He's nothing special, but I'd say he's about an average player who's just having a down year. Playing in Citizen's Bank Park should help him out a bit. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

 

Once Utley comes back, they'll have a nice utility guy on their hands who could potentially start at third if they wanted to give less at bats to Wes Helms (although I don't know why anyone would want to do that).
