Did anyone else see this? He seems like he will be the next big thing to come to the MLB. Very interesting read and he seems like a Justin Verlander type pitcher. I really hope we get to see him pitch in the WBC before he comes to the US. I wonder what his asking price will be to come to the MLB considering Dice K got $50 million?

 

Based on Dice K's success and the current trends in baseball I would think it would dip a little to the $25 - $30 million range.

Darvish could be big-time, the question is whether he'd be posted this early, as the Ham Fighters have him for like 7 more years. You'd think they'd milk that cash cow for several years before getting the big payout by posting him.

But much like Freddy Adu, if someone wants to play elsewhere, it is in the best interest of the organization to get the most out of their property using the posting/transfer system. I would guess, given his age, that his posting fee could double the record Matsuzaka fee.

He always says he is not interested in the MLB, but I (as a Japanese) think Japanese league is too small for him.

Since he is a half-Iranian, politics can be a matter for his future contract.

The velocity was about 93-94mph then, but nowadays he throws 96-98 with fine control.
