On base is only helped by hits, walks & hit by pitches (errors & sacrifices are just like other outs)

Hits, walks, and being hit by pitches count toward on base percentage. Unlike batting average and slugging percentage, which ignore them, sacrifice flies count against OBP. Sacrifice bunts are still ignored by OBP, though.
