Jose Capellan Update?

Anyone know what happened to Jose Capellan after the Rox DFA's him on 5/2? Just haven't been able to find an update, although it appears he's just done. Any update would be appreciated.

Capellan elected free agency, and that's where he's sitting right now. I don't think he's "retired", but no one appears to be banging down his door.

What a disappointment. As I remember he was one of the top prospects in baseball, not just our organization, when we acquired him from the Braves for Kolb.

At the start of '06, SI (I think it was SI) had him listed as the number one prospect in all of baseball. Prince Fielder and Rickie Weeks were much lower in the list.

Capellan just signed a minor league deal with the Royals (no appearances as of yet).

 

Kansas City released reliever Roberto Giron, a former Brewer farmhand.
