Grill Help

I bought a grill, and was all like "oh yeah, cast iron grate, awesome!"

Then I come to find out you have to "season it" and there are other rules you need to follow so you don't get the thing all rusty and such

What are the basics of cast iron care? What oil do I use to season it, and how often? Is seasoning just putting oil on there? hot? cold?

basically any vegetable oil or olive oil will do, the trick is... season it before every grilling outing. With a cast iron grill, a little oil brushing will do wonders for helping meat or what ever not stick. Take a cloth, small towel will do, dap or dip in some oil, and rub up and down the grates, just don't apply too much, a little dab will do ya. Hope that helps, but if your grill explodes, I am not liable... Best of luck.

This same thing happened to me with a wok I bought a couple years ago. I was also ignorant of the seasoning that cast iron needs. Needless to say, the wok sits in my pantry, unused.
