Chase Wright and Brian Burres

They both were recently dfa'd by their respective teams. Teams have 10 days to pick them up.

Chase Wright

- Started a few games for the Yankees in 2007

- Had a good 2008 season in the Minors

- Does have 4 pitches

- 89mph fastball

Brian Burres

- Started 22 games last year with the Orioles

- Only a 1.26 k/bb ratio

- Even distribution of ground balls to fly balls

- 88mph fastball but a 71mph curve (17mph difference to keep hitters off balance a bit)

- Actually worth 3.3m last season

Are these guys worth looking at?

Burres was just designated and Wright has about 5 days left.

Seems to me at this point, unless Melvin has something up his sleeve, just about anyone with a little experience and a pulse we could use for depth. As long as they come cheap.

I really do think we are at the point where we need to sign some fodder for depth's sake. Either one of these guys seems okay for AAA and a call up or two for spot starts. Seems better than Naveson etc.

I was going to mention Wright last week when he was first designated but thought for sure that he would be sent back to the minors. I think he would be a solid addition depth-wise.
This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I'm talkin' to whoever's listenin' out there.
