No it gives LA more money in the future. They take $5m now and instead of giving it to Manny they stick it in a CD at 5%. That means next year they have $250,000 more to spend.

I knew you were talking about the deferred value of money, but it doesn't work that way. It sounds like they are short on cash flow, so where would they get the $5million to invest? Granted, both of us are speculating on their financial situation, but who has $5M laying around right now?

This is bad news for the Brewers, adds another team that is in the wild card hunt whether it is the Dodgers or the Diamondbacks.
I was really hoping the Giants would go for him. Besides the local entertainment factor, it would make the Dodgers worse, and I'm not sure that Manny + their pitching is enough to put the Giants over the top this year.
