So for the anti-boo people... you still wouldn't boo this performance or decision by Macha if you were in the stands?

I don't boo players for not playing well. I don't see the point. I might mutter a few naughty words under my breath, however. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I'm still on his bandwagon, but man I feel the anger that only Ned could make me feel tonight.
I couldn't have said it better. This is exactly how I feel.

Macha was probably just trying to get Julio some work, since he hadn't pitched since last Tuesday. Granted, a two run game in wet playing conditions likely isn't the best way to get a guy work, but I'm just trying to figure out what he was thinking at this point. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Julio's performance was awful and Macha's decision to bring him in was dumb -- but how does booing help? I just don't get booing your own team unless there is a clear lack of effort.

This one is partially on Melvin too. There is no way this guy should have been on the team at this point. He should have been DFA'd a month ago, but using him in a close game? Why is it everyone on this board saw this coming and Macha didn't? I just don't get it.

I can't get the Brewers feed on Gameday so I'm listening to the Marlins guys...they can't believe we went with Julio either.

Coffey strikes out the side....yet we're losing by 3 after being up 2.

I guess Macha never had Turnbow to learn from then. If you're going to bring Julio in like that, you yank him before things get out of hand if he's off.

As pebadger said, very nostalgic feel tonight now.

Well they got out of it only down 3...still within striking distance, even with Braun out of the lineup. Hopefully they can start chipping away with a run this inning.

A pitcher getting shelled - not a reason to boo, the effort is there

Soriano kicking a ball into the corner, walking to it, picking it up, sighing then throwing the ball in - every right to boo

To be fair Julio had been looking better lately, and Macha wanted to try him in a higher (for Julio at least) leverage situation. It didn't work out and hopefully a lesson was learned.

The problem is, he wasn't.

Actually a nice job by Coffey to get out of that mess only giving up 2 runs.

I think the only time booing helps is to make a point to the manager that they are consistantly making the same wrong decision. Sorry I didn't mean to turn this into a to boo or not to boo thread. It was a reactionary comment that I now regret making. It was a rough inning.

Well, Julio was facing the bottom of the order. I think Macha just didn't believe it would get away from him that quickly and that he would have time to staunch teh bleeding if Julio messed it up. It all just fell apart too quickly, and then the dfense didn't help either.

I don't think this is a great rationale, but I think it's the most plausible explanation.

Of course we all know that Catalanotto and Gerut will both homer to get us back into the game.

No, but a bloop single will work too.
