Last I saw he was in independent ball ( a possible case of blacklisting/head case but then keep in mind he was dealing with the Nats...). He's hardly a world beater but for free talent you're not going to get better...

It wasn't the Nats' fault. Perez signed a minor league deal, then after he signed it he complained about it and wanted a major league deal, so they got rid of him.

 

I'd take him though, as long as he comes cheap.

Yeah but you don't know if the Nats promised him a spot somewhere and then reneged. Its's the Nats and it was Jim Bowden.

Interesting point on Perez, endaround. If the Brewers are willing to check out broken-down Pedro Martinez's throwing session (even if they got shafted by him), why not take a look at Perez?
