Purely speculation: Clark,Turnbow,& Capellan for Rowand,Lieber & a prospect. Maybe Racine/Franksville native Jason Jaramillo.

Then Mench for Lopez. Then take the best of Lopez,Liber & Vargas for the 4th & 5th spot.

I like the idea of Rowand as a brewer and even lieber, but do you really expect Turnbow and Munch to be enough...the only thing I see going for us is Rowand and lieber are only one year players while the Brewers are exchanging players with multiple years left on their services. Here I was starting to worry nothing will happen this week, but things might get interesting. Maybe this should be another thread, but who would u want Rowand or Burrell?

I would think Burrell also, but the Brewers wanted more speed this offseason, would they choose to stay with the idea of Rowand (granted I watched him with the Sox and don't remember if he was a stolen base type)

Rowand and Lieber would be welcome players. Lieber would come in as a back of the rotation guy. Nothing more. But he's solid, and we only have to pay him for one year.

Rowand would bring solid defense and aggressive baserunning. He's too much of a free swinger, but that's life.

The team would be lacking left handed power if Jenks was dealt in this or any other deal. Prince is gold, but Koskie is the only proven lefthanded bat, unless you could Gross. If Gross could keep up his performance - .900+ OPS vs. righties, that would go a long way. Otherwise, our lefties aren't power guys - Estrada, Gwynn, Counsell. It would require some forward steps by Hardy, Weeks and Hart.

Church could be going to the Phillies for Ryan Madison:from rotoworld

Just throwing that out as a possible roadblock.Or more proof that Rowand is out.

The more I think about this the more I'd be willing to trade for Burrell (if we get rid of Jenkins) The problem I see is that I don't like lieber, not because of age or talent, because we get him for one year....I'd rather make a play for a pitcher that is available for more than that since obviously the Brewers will never be able to compete for a pitcher in the open market....

The Brewers are believed to have a deal in place that would send outfielder Kevin Mench to Baltimore for right-hander Rodrigo Lopez in the event the Orioles fail to sign free-agent outfielder Luis Gonzalez.

maybe the deal was all media driven
