Computer Fan on Desktop is making noise

Here's another one for the Brewerfan tech team. I do know a little about computer hardware (hard drives, cd drives, ram), but not enough to trust

myself and get my hands dirty when it comes to fans. Anyways, on my parents desktop, a fan is making a really loud noise. After talking to my dad over the phone, we narrowed it down to what fan is making the noise. It is not the power supply or the big fan that blows out of the case. It was a fan labeled arx ceradyna, 12 volt .11 amp. When I tried to get my dad tell me where it was, he didn't know what it was. With very little confidence, my guess is that it might be one for the heat sync. The fan is still spinning, but I am afraid to keep the computer on for a long period of time. Even after dusting the computer, it still makes these loud noises.

Alright, I am done trying to sound like I know what I am talking about. Does anybody have a better idea what is going on? Is this something that you can swap out with a new one? Thanks in advance.

I had this happen a few years back. My fan was just installed poorly and the casing it was in was not firmly snapped into place. I opened the computer case and just snapped it back into its proper place and everything was fine. Worth a shot.

I had this for about a year on my old computer. Every time the fan would start making noise, I would whack the computer with my foot, which worked for a few days. Eventually, the fan stopped making noise altogether. Problem solved.

The cables inside the computer LOVE to get all up in the fan on the heat shield. So make sure the fan isn't rubbing against any of the cables. Open the case up, pull all the cords from the power supply out away from the fan and see if it still makes the noise. If that seems to be the problem, just make sure you arrange the cables inside so that none of them will be pushed into the fan when you put the case back on.

Thanks for all the tips. Once I get back home, I will try them out. I don't trust my dad enough to relay these tips over the phone.

Update: I went home over the weekend and it turns out it was the fan from the graphics card. I cleaned it off with a Q tip and the sound stopped almost on command. Thanks everyone for the help.
