Wow. I know athletes will do some interesting things to get a certain number when they join a new team, but, wow. Her son will benefit so much from this; stability and routine are hugely important to autistic children. Well done, Ahman.

When I first read the subject. First thing I thought of was what did that clown do now, beat up some more lady friends? But I was wrong...terribly wrong.

 

I wonder how many atheletes do this and it goes unnoticed. I remember when Tim Thomas was here he bought like 25k worth of presents from the target on capitol dr for poor kids at christmas time.

This story has been around for awhile, I saw Green talking about it on ESPNews a couple months ago. I guess it's back in the news because they picked the family they were going to give the down payment to.

 

Anyway, Simmons got the idea from Warrick Dunn, who has been doing this for years. That's why I've always liked Warrick Dunn. So far, his foundation has done this 60 times. He "assists single mothers in owning their first home by providing the down payment on a house and then filling the house with everything a first-time homeowner would need including: furniture, food, linens, lawn mower, gardening supplies, washer, dryer, dishes, pots and pans, etc."

good to read. although I have to admit my first thought was of Big Ern in Kingpin, providing tons of support to attractive single mothers all around the country. Either way, I have a smile on my face

Dunn has been doing it a long time you are right. He's probably the class act of the entire NFL. I think Jason Simmons should get most of the credit for this being done since Green was going to lose that money regardless. Still a great story.

yeah, i'm like some posters above. i'm so jaded by pro athletes that i first thought the title was sarcastic and Green did something stupid.

 

that's always awesome news to hear. some athletes do so much for other people (Jeffrey Hammonds is a good local example), and it's too bad that's not the kind of news that gets the most press attention.
