Just an idea- Chris Tillman for Lorenzo Cain

Would add another pitcher to the mix, a young one who is coming off of a down year. I dont know if the Orioles need anymore outfielders but would this deal make sense for Milwaukee?

I'm not convinced Tillman will ever be a front end starter. This may be a "fair" deal right now, but if the Brewers trade Cain, I'd prefer it to be as part of a package to get a better/more established pitcher than Tillman.

If the Brewers had chosen to go with more of a rebuild mode heading to this season I'd say yes, however given that they look to be attempting to put a staff together to win now and they don't really have a CF to replace Cain with I'd say it's not a good fit. Not a bad deal, but the timing isn't right. I'd only move Cain for an established starter right now.

Cain's value isn't anywhere near enough to get an established starter in return. He's only played 99 games above AA and he turns 25 in April. It makes sense to deal him only if you think his performance last year was a complete mirage because if he hits .306/.348/.415 over 500 at bats, his value will skyrocket well beyond what it is now.

You're right, he won't bring back an established guy straight up, but in a trade package he could. My point was that the Brewers need Cain this year more that they need Tillman this year. In the end Tillman could very well be more valuable. In fact, if I'm the Orioles I probably wouldn't deal Tillman at all. Each player is more valuable to thier current team that they would be to each other.

Baltimore's probably not a fit. Adam Jones and Nick Markakis are locked into CF and RF, respectively, and they seem to like Felix Pie and Nolan Reimold. They probably need bats at the corner infield spots more than anything, which is why people keep bringing up Prince Fielder there.

22 and very good in AAA indicates a very solid prospect. Cain could play LF for them, but I would agree it would not be a perfect match. They asked for Minor from ATL, so they feel Cain is worthy of a solid pitching prospect in trade.
