Prince Fielder Weigh in

No that there is an actual weigh in, but what do you think the weight talk will be this spring. The last time he focused on his weight pre-season, in my opinion, was 2009 and the club listed him at 268. I am guessing he'll be under that, since Boras is probably making sure that isn't more of a point of contention then it needs to be.

Fielder is so young yet his weight won't be any real issue for another five or six years.

I think it was an issue last year personally. He was even extremely slow on the base paths last year and his swing seemed more all or nothing than in the past. The fact he learned the strike zone even better just masked it some since his OBP jumped covering up how the rest of his skills declined some.

even if you absolutely stunk every year in your career, but had an amazing contract-year performance, there's a lot of teams who will pay you gobs of money. Jose Bautista is a week-old example of that, and of course Fielder knows that, too.

Fielder must know that if he comes to camp fat(ter) and posts a <4 WAR season there's no way he'll be getting even $150MM. I'm betting Prince is smart enough to show up to camp in great shape this year.

Edit: Prince arrived at spring training this morning, and this link confirms that Prince has slimmed down.
