Ugh. Things change fast. Hopefully after a few more starts Greinke can get things figured out once he gets up to 75 pitches.

Ouch. that 2-2 pitch was a strike, and the call was missed at a bad time. Hopefully ZG doesn't get burned here.

Greinke's arm is probably built up enough to throw 100 pitches over the course of an outing, but 20-pitch innings like the 4th still probably wear on him more than they normally would. Hasn't looked sharp at all in the 5th, and 40+ pitches is a ton for anyone to handle...let alone someone who's realistically one start or so removed from "spring training."

I'm probably just focusing on the negative innings, but it seems like Brewer pitchers allow a lot of multi-run innings, and not a lot of 1 run innings. They seem to really lose it, when they lose it.
You may run like Mays...

okay time to get someone up in the pen. Give me Estrada for 2 innings.

They just had a free live look in on the mlb gamecast...boy are the Pirates announcers annoying. I wanted to mute it after about 10 seconds. I'm glad we have our guys.

Some of you are chirping about having Lucroy bat 2nd. That sounds like a terrible idea. He would ground into DPs on the regular. It's either Hart or Gomez that should bat 2nd.

Yeah, it would be terrible having a guy with a .371 On Base Percentage bat in front of Braun and Prince. **FACE PALM** Gomez and Hart with their sub .300 OBP are much better options.

Yeah, and Lucory is totally going to keep that up the entire season. Surely Hart will continue to look awful all season.

It's funny how if a guy cruises through 4 innings then gets rocked but leaves with a lead I can focus on the positive aspects of the start, but if he leaves down 5-0 it seems like a terrible start.

Honestly, I'm just glad that Greinke's going through this arm-building phase against teams like the Padres and Pirates. It could be worse -- the schedule could have given him more teams like the Braves his first few starts. His next start will be against Colorado, which will be a real test.

darnit, MLBTV offered the Brewer game for free just a few minutes ago and allowed me to watch a full inning before it stopped and said the game was blacked out for my area. DOH!

Lucroy is not going to bat 2nd. Maybe a game somewhere but I highly doubt it. And if it happens it will not be for an extended amount of time.

Fine, but there's no way he should be batting any lower than 6th. Gomez and Betancourt are inferior hitters. Not only does Betancourt make out nearly 75% of the time, it seems like most are week fly/pop outs and ground balls. Even a decent amount of his hits seem to be bloopers of soft liners.
