Jorge Posada

I'm thinking this guy could be our answer at first base. He's a switch hitter, leader, and could be invaluable in the clubhouse. Anybody else think this could work?

He's 40. He's coming off a .714 OPS season.

Gamel would out produce him at 5% the cost.

Absolutely not. Beyond the age concerns... Jorge Posada, career Yankee, fringe HOF candidate... now he's going to just sign with the Brewers? I don't think so.

This is a April Fools thread right? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
i think it's a legitimate question considering his leadership ability (presumably). but i agree it doesn't make a ton of sense for the money he'd still be able to demand. i'm sure he'd sooner retire than accept a $400,000 one-year contract with the Brewers.

I think that you have to give Gamel at least half a season of playing everyday before you look elsewhere. I just hope that he comes to camp in shape and motivated to prove the doubters wrong. The way things have gone for him, he will probably get injured again.
