Brewers are second in mlb in picked off and picked off caught stealing, so that frustration is justified but they are decent in all other base running statistics.

 

They are actually near the bottom of the league in extra bases taken, so the over aggressive approach might be an illusion as well.

Fangraphs BsR pegs them at over 5 runs above average on the basepaths which is the best in all of baseball. When you take risks sometimes you get outs, but the benefits the Brewers are getting from their speed and agressiveness far outweighs that.

You guys should start a thread in ML forum about those base running stats. Love seeing the actual numbers and it may it down some of the hyperbole about RR being terrible or that the Brewers must be the worst base running team because no one else ever makes outs on the base paths.

How many of those outs, I wonder were "sure" outs, and how many of the extra bases did they take were pretty sure bets to be an extra base?

 

I have readily admitted that the eye test often doesn't stand up to stats, but the stats for baserunning also don't measure egregious blunders. They just measure extra bases, and outs.

I am always surprised by Khris Davis power, only because he doesn't look like the prototypical big man. Man oh man does he have a heavy swing. I don't think people realize how hard he hit that ball yesterday to the opposite corner.
