Milwaukee Bucks 2015 - 2016

The city better not screw this up. They are getting the best deal of all. A brand new half a billion dollar arena and it costs them a parking structure and a TIF, something they routinely hand out to larger projects and really doesn't cost anything. They should be more concerned with finding a way to reroute their planned street car to the area. Building a new street car system and not connecting it to this would be a mistake.....although it would not be at all surprising.

bill passes by a wide margin as expected. while i can't see the city trying to mess this up, the city council has always been my biggest concern.

I agree great day for Milwaukee. I'll be very upset if the new arena doesn't have ice though. Not that I am holding out hope for an NHL team but it would be a major step back for the Admirals to have play at the UWM Panther arena. I'm not sure they can survive that. Plus no more Frozen Fours and no big ten hockey tournament.

Either way though this was a must do for Milwaukee. Hopefully that promise of related development comes through. A huge hotel is a must and some high end apartments would really help the area. I know it's not in the cards but I've always to see a Wisconsin sports museum down there.

new arena will not have ice, due to the increase in cost to add ice. The majority of admirals games have far lower attendance than capacity of the UWM arena. Admirals would also avoid a 2 dollar ticket surcharge. Probably means the end of concert nights though. Admirals also would have much lower rent and a larger share in concessions. I think they would be fine not moving to the new arena.

I don't know. They'd be moving back to an arena they moved out of almost thirty years ago. The BC is amongst the best arenas in the AHL and they'd be moving into, I'd have to imagine, one of the worst, especially for a city the size of Milwaukee. They would have seen a big boost in attendance in year one of the new arena. I'd be surprised if they survive this. but you never know I guess.

Same here, but they should push for a vote quickly, almost daring some of these members to vote against it. This has actually flip-flopped now and there will be tremendous pressure by a lot of powerful people to get this done. State and local politicians, the unions, business groups, etc.

I'd be flat out stunned if the city council doesn't approve it. The pressure on them will be immense at this point. Any idea when it will actually reach the governor? That's the next step. He's out of the state at the moment. But he needs to sign it, then it goes to the council and then at that point....I guess it's a matter of finalizing and releasing arena plans and getting bids.

They theoretically could be breaking ground sometime this fall!

there is an election for a new alderman next month, carpenter is completely against the arena and borkowski hasn't stated a position that i have heard. not sure if this will affect the vote outcome or not. something to watch.

I never really understood why approval was even in doubt. How many other stadiums have owners covered 50%? Its a heck of a lot more than normal. I think the State and Milwaukee are getting a steal. I don't know how big the economic impact will be but there isn't any denying how much revenue the state and Milwaukee would lose if they left. I think everyone is coming out ahead in the long run.

It would have been so depressing to see a Bucks team that is finally trending in the right direction just pick up and move to Seattle.

I hear you, but we've talked about all the reasons for opposition.

Now I hear common council won't vote until September? C'mon Barrett take some leadership and get this done in the next couple weeks. Either way, it will get done so let's save a month and get a shovel in the dirt.

I like the white and green ones. But that black one just simply doesn't look right to me. Hope they don't wear that one very often.

I don't hate it, but black is so overdone in the NBA. I would like to see the alternate use part of their new color scheme- the cream and blue. That would provide consistency, and look better too. I like the number on the chest. Maybe the state logo instead of main logo? Final suggestion, the logo (whichever they use) needs to be a little smaller or muted.

i don't hate them as much as i thought i would. i still don't like the small numbers on the front of the jersey. I think a cream jersey that said "cream city" would have been a cool alternate

I hate them just as much as I thought I would. Missed opportunity for an awesome, classic cream jersey or to play up the blue a bit more. Blah.

Are uniforms like the black ones just a sign of the times? Like those ridiculous uniforms a lot college football teams wear? I'm not going to make fun of anyone who likes those because you can like whatever you want to like but man do I find those black unis ugly. Hopefully they don't wear them that often.

reports are that more detailed arena renderings will be announced this month.

They better have more details by now if they plan on breaking ground in October!

The initial 2-3 months of breaking ground will be simply removing the old freeway infrastructure and rerouting/rebuilding the sewer system -- which won't really chance no matter what it looks like above there.

It's been a while, so I went to look at the Bucks roster. What is the plan at the 4/5 position? Seems to me they only have two proven players there- Monroe and Henson. Giannis, Parker, and Copeland could all play some 4, even Inglis if he's ready. But I think that takes away from their strength- incredible size at every position.

I just think they're better, especially defensively, when Giannis and Parker are on the wing. Just due to how the team is built, they will each need play the 4 at times- depending on match-ups. I get that, but again I would like to see that as little as possible.

Do they really plan to give more minutes to Plumley or OBryant? Is there another trade that needs to happen? Or are they reversing direction and playing smaller?

Well I'd say the 5 is set with Monroe and Henson. And those two should rarely play together other than certain matchups, like Memphis/Chicago. Plumlee's fine as an emergency or injury fill in at the end of the bench. True 4 is the only hole on the roster, they have plenty of stretch types in Giannis/Parker, even Middleon in some situations. But not competent guy in between a stretch 4 and a C (henson/Monroe). I would've have liked to see them take a flier on Perry Jones who ended up in Boston, someone like that who big enough to cover 4 but also can operate outside of the paint in some degree. I would expect a lot of Giannis covering 4s this year. But really they're going to be rolling a switch everything system so that's why I don't think they've emphasized it, that or they have confidence in JOB. Though I think they should have added something with Jabari likely having some restrictions at least early this season.

Yea, I would like one more Henson/Sanders type guy. I don't care if they score, just one more long guy in the paint who could play with Henson/ Giannis at the same time. I really thought that's the direction they should go, just keep getting longer and longer on defense. Shot blockers everywhere, and it never stops coming at you.

Very tough to have a competent offense with two bigs like that on the floor at once when the only good outside shooter on the floor is Middleton
