2015 brewers avoid 60-day disabled list?; Just barely, no - Nelson and Blazek to 60-day

knock on wood, but thus far, the brewers have avoided placing or transferring any player to the 60-day disabled list.

as we all know, placing a player on the 60-day disabled list opens up a spot on the 40-man roster.

i looked up the answer . . . anyone care to take a stab on the last season the brewers did not use the 60-day disabled list?

i have to do more digging. according to the 2004 brewers media guide, no players were placed on or transferred to the 60-day disabled list in 2003.

but according to this, todd ritchie was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on 7 august 2003.

in every season from 1999 - 2014, the brewers have utilized the 60-day disabled list for at least one player. i have yet to determine if the brewers utilized the 60-day disabled list in 1998 and seasons prior to that.

obviously, it will be pretty significant if the brewers avoid using the 60-day disabled list in 2015.

Seeing we aren't competing and the fact the season is almost over I think avoiding the 60DL is pretty much a 99.9% chance of happening. There is no baseball reason to stick someone on the 60DL at this point.

Except to free up a 40 man spot for a September callup.

That is true...but I think the Brewers are good in that department. They still had quite a few open spots last I checked.

the club is down to one open roster spot. they could opt to transfer michael blazek to the 60-day disabled list to open up another spot, or they could release kyle lohse or brandon kintzler.

[sarcasm]Thanks for making it a certainty! :)[/sarcasm]

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."
