I don't believe that KC will take Gordon, and I don't believe the Brewers will take Braun. We've all seen the secrecy under which the Brewers operate (Mark Rogers? Ben Sheets?), and it is never who'd you'd expect. It'll be Gordon, or Tulo, or Maybin, or maybe Romero.

Rogers name as a favorite for the Brewers leaked out well before this point in time last year. And no one expected Sheets to fall to the Brewers lap in '99. They were prepared to take Brett Myers before 9 other teams passes on Big Ben.

I remember hearing Rogers' name, but I don't remember hearing his name as a favorite. Maybe it is just my memory. Up until this point last year, I remember hearing a lot of names.

Rogers' name became associated with the Crew in a draft-tracker update about 10 days before the draft.

 

I just really think the Dbacks and Royals are major wildcards. And if everyone knows the Nats are locked in on Zimmerman, I wouldn't be surprised if he starts talking about wanting more money. And Clement into the top 4? Wow! This could be crazy.

If the Brewers take Clement, I won't be that pissed. I'd rather they take Clement than Braun. Better a catcher that can almost play defense and hit than a third baseman that can almost play defense and hit.

I would agree. Personally I can live with Braun but there are a lot of guys I'd prefer over him. Clement would work for me. Bruce, Romero, Hochevar (pipe dream), even Maybin. But he's better than anyone else at that position in our organization. We'll see. Jack likes to surprise...
