Archer + Colome

They might demand Hader for both guys, which isn't happening. For Archer maybe we can get by giving up santana, burnes, peralta. For Colome maybe Ortiz and Lutz gets it done. That would severely dent the farm though.

Let's just say that our farm system would go from a borderline Top 10 system that we have today to probably a bottom 5 system.

I'll take a stab and will say:

Santana

Burnes

Hiura

Peralta

Ortiz

Carmona

How far off am I?

Santana/Burnes/Gatewood/Bickford

Swap out Bickford with Hiura, and add Ortiz and probably another high-end prospect, and you might have something. Bickford is worth practically nothing at this point. Hopefully he can rebuild his value in AA this year, but right now, he's the longest of long shots, and basically a low-odds lottery ticket.

Yep, you nailed it. I know Colome is a nice piece, but I'd question whether another pen arm is worth the cost.

Agreed. Stearns doesn't strike me as a guy that's willing to give up a ton of prospects for a bullpen arm. I think he's much more interested in finding the reclaimation projects for the pen each year, especially with how volatile pen arms typically are. The fact that TB hasn't traded either Archer or Colome this offseason tells me that their demands for both guys are extremely high - and no team has been willing to meet those demands. The pricetag for both of them in the same deal would literally wipe out all of our remaining top prospects. Personally, I'm not interested in doing that.

Im acting like the return we give rays is less for "taking Colome" and his $5.3mil price tag

I would love to hear the justification on this one....

I get that Tampa would like to shed salary, but Colome at $5.3 million would have plenty of interested teams. That isn't close to a negative value contract.

I think you could move Huira to Dubon or Phillips but otherwise that's it.
