Michael Pineda re-signs with Twins - 2-years/$20M

RHP Michael Pineda has re-signed with Minnesota, 2-years/$20M.

 

Pineda will miss the first 1/4 of the season due to a 60-game PED suspension that he partially served last year.

Pineda would have been interesting, but I wouldn't say he was atop my wishlist of Brewers targets. He was a little better than league average based on DRA last season coming off surgery. I think it's reasonable to believe he'd be about as useful for the next two years if not a little better.

I really liked the idea of him. Had a really nice year last year. The PED thing is a traditional PED hit. He wasn't masking or on hgh or anything dramatic. He has a ton of potential and while he hasn't lived up to it yet he hasn't put up numbers that hurt his team. There are plenty of options that could get similar production left. Not many with his upside though.

 

Shame, but this wasn't cheaper than I would have went. It looks pretty fair.
