Brett Anderson Injury Thread

And here we go:

Brett Anderson's start in Wednesday's intrasquad game was cut short because of a blister.

The Brewers are saying Anderson's removal was precautionary. If the left-hander is indeed okay health-wise, he will break camp as part of the rotation.

the only healthy pitcher on the 40-man roster right now optioned at the alternate training site is trey supak. i don't think that the club wants to risk losing grimm just yet--especially given their pitching woes. don't forget, when the brewers signed position players jedd gyrko and brock holt, it was at the expense of removing pitchers jake faria and taylor williams from the 40-man (and the latter from the organization).

i think they'll send a pitcher out on optional assignment and dfa a position player on optional assigment (barring another player hitting the covid-19 injured list).

david freitas is at greater risk to be dfa'd, in my opinion . . . and the brewers can take solace knowing that the marlins just activated two of their veteran catchers, and optioned two catchers to camp. the marlins probably don't need any more catchers on their 40-man roster.

i mistakenly stated that brett anderson needed to be added back to the 40-man roster in order to be activated. he was never removed from the 40-man.

he has been activated, with jacob nottingham optioned to the alternate training site in grand chute.

Well, his start tonight is scratched for a hip issue...

He has actually started more games than I expected at this point...

Well, the blister in game 60 kind of adds a cherry on top of 2020.

Yup ... Anderson is what he is ... a solid starter when healthy. That "when healthy" part carries a huge caveat, though. That's why a starting pitch as good as Anderson was last year was available on a 1-year, $5 million deal. I have no complaints over how Anderson pitched (when he could actually pitch) this year.
