Purchasing a car out of state

Is it a major hassle if my daughter, who curently lives in Ohio, were to purchase a car in Wisconsin, that will actually be an Ohio vehicle?

Can a dealership set up the license, etc, as they do when you purchase a car here in WI?

I would say it depends. You would have to ask the dealership some are nationally and they maybe able to do it. I think the car rental companies could do this if you bought from them but not 100% sure on that. At least she doesn't live in Arizona she would have to pay the WI tax and then when she went to register the vehicle in AZ she would have to pay the AZ tax also.

I lived in WI and bought a car in MN. They handled taxes and license swap. But I'd think it might be harder if the state isn't right next door.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Any car dealership can figure this out. People buy cars across country all the time. If it isn’t right next door the dealer will have to do a little more digging on what they need to do, but everyone has the ability. I’m sure any dealer in any state can print of the temp tag for you. I know a lot of people who have gone great lengths for the best deal and every other state purchased in set everything up for them.

As for someone paying double tax (like WI plus AZ), no, that would never happen. You pay where you are going to register it.

You should ask the dealer before purchasing, but I doubt they will have any problems setting it all up.

It isn't double but you will have to pay any tax if the state you buy from is less than the AZ tax

Just bought a car on April 3 in Chicago. I live in Wisconsin. Only paid Wisconsin sales tax, when I am sure Chicago’s is much higher. The amount was wrong by $40 bucks, but don’t worry, WISDOT made sure they got it from me. Very easy process. Waited about two weeks to get the title in the mail from the dealer.
