I visit this site much more frequently on a desktop than I do on a phone or tablet, but I notice it both places. I have significant bounce on my desktop, and it doesn't seem to matter what the internet speed is. The ads constantly load slower than everything else.

Browser/OS? And are you on a really fast, stable connection like a work connection?

I'm asking because I get almost no bounce on desktop.

I have no bouncing issue on desktop or mobile but the site is still basically unusable for me on mobile which is my main format of use. I checked now, scrolling through the game thread a bit. At one point I had 3 adds on screen at once(ON MOBILE!!!) all were videos, my phone literally dropped 7% from less than a minute of scrolling. It's frankly ridiculous. I don't know if it's an android/ios issue or what. I'm on a google pixel xl 2 for reference.

If looking at the site means my phone dies instantly..

edit - adds loading slower today actually somehow makes the functionality of the site worse as, twitter quotes etc seem to be loading as I scroll past which causes accidental clicks. recent change is a downgrade imo

Using a MacBook Pro (Monterey 12.2.1) and Chrome as my browser. I like Chrome, so I don't want to go to a different browser.

I see no changes in how the ads are loading, If anything, they are loading slower, which makes the experience even worse. All I want is the ads to load at the same time as the rest of the page. I applaud what you are doing here with the site, Brock, but after 15 years of browsing and diligently reading this site, I am getting pretty frustrated. These Google ads are absolutely terrible.

Trust me, I share your frustration. And I'm also primarily testing in macOS and Chrome so I'm at a loss here and it's pissing me off, to be perfectly frank about it.

But I'm going to keep plugging away at it. If we have to throw money at it, we'll take that route. I'm earnestly trying to strike a balance with this situation and the fact I can't reach that equilibrium is frustrating the hell out of me.

Desktop, right? Because I don't think a mobile header ad exists, at least not for me.

Why do ads pop up and cover up the spot where I am trying to post replies on the game day threads?  I am using an Android phone on Chrome.

I was charged for another year of site caretaking yesterday, and for the first time in, well, about a year, I have ads while logged in.  😬  Is there maybe a little gap between when the payment clears and the ads go away again? 

(Edited to add that the yellow caretaker box doesn't appear on this post)
