Another long at-bat. Another walk. Figueroa is up to 93 pitches now, well above his previous peak of 79.  The bases are loaded in the top of the 9th inning, still with 1 out and the Mudcats leading 8-6.

Finally, finally, finally...RHP Michele Vassalotti comes into the game.

I think Kent Hasler wishes he was back with his lads in Wisconsin. All he's done since his promotions is give up runs. Poor Kent. You'll find that form again soon young man!

And in Beloit, RHP Cam Robinson gives up a rare run to tie the game 4-4 in the 8th inning. He was done in by an infield single, with the runner moving to 2nd and 3rd on ground outs, then an RBI single.

...and my night was going so well...

I never thought I'd see the day. Cam Robinson gave up a run! It's now 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth. A 2-2 single past the diving glove of Ethan Murray.

Beloit follows that run-scoring single with an RBI triple on an 0-2 pitch to take a 5-4 lead over Wisconsin. if they're doing this against Wisconsin's best in Cam Robinson, you can only tip your cap.

Stay thirsty, Daniel! We're still in it. Both games. what's even worse? Cam gave up a triple down the right field line and the Rattlers now trail 5-4. LOL. Hey-o.

Cam Robinson a three-run inning and a blown save? I thought I'd never see the day. And, so it goes. Trailing 6-4 to red-hot Beloit.

Vassalotti escaped without further damage, but Carolina failed to muster anything in the bottom of the 9th inning. They're headed to extras at home against Myrtle Beach.

Beloit's bullpen retired the final 11 Timber Rattler hitters in order, really giving their offense a chance to pull it out. Better luck tomorrow Wisconsin!

Carolina will need to score 2 runs in the bottom of the 10th to tie it back up.

...and they have to do it against 24-year old LHP Adam Laskey, who has a perfect 0.00 ERA in 18 2/3 innings of work to start the season.

In ACL Brewers Blue land, 19-year old OF Jace Avina has recorded his first official hit as a Brewer minor leaguer. The 2021 14th round draft pick did not play last year.

And 19-year old OF Luis Medina, he of the $1.3 million signing bonus in July 2019, who did not debut until 2021 and lost some luster with a 5-walk, 45-strikeout .570 OPS season in Arizona last year, has smacked a 3-run homer to give ACL Brewers Blue a 3-1 lead in the 3rd inning of their contest.

It would appear recently demoted Trevor Tietz is continuing his charitable mound work in the ACL in the early going. Let's find that form, Trevor. 1/3 inning of work so far with 2 hits, a walk, and a HR? Yowza. It's a long way from early April.

Hop aboard my hype train. It's a nice smooth ride.

Who am I kidding, it's 2022 in Biloxi. Nothing is smooth. But, man, Jakson Reetz is a very very good baseball player.
