Low-A Carolina has lost 4 games in a row and needs a victory in Columbia today to tie up their series 1-1. RHP Israel Puello (6.53 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, 11.7 K/9 in 40 innings) will make his 6th start (12th appearance) of the year. C Jeferson Quero is heating in June (.860 OPS in 34 plate appearances) after struggling a bit in April/May (.624 OPS in 156 plate appearances):

AA Biloxi has won just 4 of their past 13 games and needs a victory in Chattanooga today to tie up their series 1-1. RHP Noah Zavolas (7.48 ERA, 1.66 WHIP, 8.7 K/9 in 21 2/3 innings) appears to be nearly back to full strength, throwing over 80 pitches in each of his last 3 starts. RF Tristen Lutz has a 6-game hitting streak (10-for-25, 4 doubles, 8 RBIs):

Man, that’s a frustrating 2-1 loss for the Mudcats:

  • 2-on, nobody out 1st inning - didn’t score
  • Bases loaded, nobody out 7th inning - didn’t score
  • 2-on, nobody out 9th inning - didn’t score

Great pitching from Israel Puello and Edwin Jimenez (1 earned run combined).

C Jeferson Quero hit a solo homer and threw out 4 of 5 attempted base stealers.

But hey, there are some great signs in Biloxi, which won 5-2 in Chattanooga:

  • Noah Zavolas - 96 pitches, 6 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 1 BB, 8 Ks (easily his best outing of the year)
  • Bullpen - 3 shutout innings (they've allowed just 1 run over the last 12 2/3 innings)

SS Cam Devanney also hit his 8th home run of the year.

High-A Wisconsin aims to take a 2-0 series lead at Great Lakes, with RHP Ryne Moore prepared for a repeat of his last outing (7 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 7 Ks). SS Ethan Murray has hit safely in 8 of his last 9 games, including last night's game-winning single in the top of the 9th inning:

AAA Nashville's lost 9 of their last 12 games and looks for a win today to even up this week's series 1-1 in Memphis. After 8 solid outings to start the season (2.40 ERA in 41 1/3 innings), Birthday Boy RHP Josh Lindblom aims to break out of a 3-game rough patch (8.80 ERA in 15 1/3 innings). C Brian Navarreto (3-for-3 last game) is getting a bit more playing time this month, given an injury to Alex Jackson:

Wisconsin seems to have left their bats back at the hotel. They've put 2 men on base in 8 innings (1 double, 1 walk). Down 5-0 entering the 9th.

Meanwhile, Josh Lindblom is throwing well and OF Garrett Whitley came through with a 2-out, RBI single in the 4th inning, giving Nashville a 1-0 lead.

Whitley also hit a game-tying solo homer in the 9th inning to send it to extra innings at 2-2. Nashville then put up 6 runs in the 10th inning to win it.

Not to mention Chourio's OPS falling below 1 for seemingly the first time all year.

Sorry I should give an explanation: ? = “Did you really just say that?” I guess that is also relevant here ?
