The Mudcats are clinging to a 1-game lead in their division over 3 teams tied in second place, with RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez (3.70 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 10.7 K/9 in 41 1/3 innings) on the mound tonight to maintain that advantage and also tie up their series in Down East 1-1. CF Jackson Chourio keeps producing, coming in with a 7-game hitting streak:

Wisconsin has now lost 6 games in a row and will send RHP Zach Mort (5.06 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, 8.2 K/9 in 32 innings) out to make his 2nd start of the year, trying to tie up their series at home against Quad Cities. 2B Tyler Black had a 4-for-5 game yesterday with 2 doubles, so will look to keep that bat sizzling:

Biloxi aims to take a 2-0 series lead at home against Pensacola, with RHP Justin Bullock hoping for a repeat of his last start (3 scoreless innings, 4 Ks). Leadoff man LF Noah Campbell has a 10-game hitting streak:

Nashville RHP Tyler Herb (8.38 ERA in Nashville; 1.31 ERA in Biloxi) gets the start tonight, as the club strives for a 2-0 series lead at home against Gwinnett. 1B Tyler White starts the game with a 10-game on-base streak:

Hey, it's game time baby! Mudcats enter the bottom half of the second knotted at 0-0. It would appear we have a lone Eduardo Garcia hit in the first.

And just like that, the Mudcats trail 1-0 off the first hit for the Down East Wood Ducks is a home run. And, alas, I let out a 'boo hoo!'

And, Joey Wiemer has crushed his 15th ding dong of the season - a two run blast, scoring Noah Campbell who had hit a lead-off ground-rule double. Good stuff as they are facing the uber talented and uber tall Eury Perez. By my 'memory watch', this is the third (?) time they are facing Eury.

Pedro Severino continues to shine in his rehab assignment. A first AB walk and he follows with a savvy ground ball single through the gap between 3B and SS. He has really shined in his brief stint. Personally, I think a 0.529 BA is sustainable and will definitely carry to the Big Club.?

Paul McIntosh simply hits home runs versus Biloxi. It's uncanny. He just hit his fifth of the year versus Biloxi out of eight overall. Settle down, young man! Spread the wealth, please. 2-1 Shuckers headed to the bottom half of the fourth.

Carlos Luna has come on and started doing his 2022 Carlos Luna thing: a quick out followed by a walk, a double to the wall in left, and a hit batter. It's bases juiced. 2-1 Shuckers. And, one down. And, a bit of a 'ruh roh, Carlos!'.

AND, that's a wrap for Carolina. A 1-0 loss. All 3 hits for the Mudcats came in the first 3 innings. The lone Wood Duck hit, the aforementioned HR, was the ball game. Yowza. Tough tough loss.

Carlos Luna continues to receive my: "I don't understand your season" award. After allowing the game to tie on a sequence of a walk, a ground rule double, and a HBP...He then allowed the game-tying sacrifice but held it there. He then managed to calm down and strike out 4 in two innings of piggy back work. BUT, then came his third inning. And, after a bloop single he worked a count full and gave up a weird two-run blast over the wall in deep center right field. Carlos has the stuff that plays better than his season would indicate. AND, yet, he continually finds trouble and has struggled all season essentially to find the zone. Shuckers trail 2-4.

Noah Campbell is quietly challenging Cam Devanney for 'Most Improved Player' of the first half of 2022. Wow. He just ripped a double down the third base line to tie the game 4-4. Scoring on the hit are, hey now, Cam Devanney (now a 15 game hit streak) and Yeison Coca.

Oh my, Joey Wiemer just got absolutely Minor League umpired. A clear clear check swing ball was called a third strike. AND, welp, nothing you can do about that. Ugh. Campbell stays on third base with 2 down now and the game tied 4-4.

Jakson Reetz. Clearly he was waiting for my return. What a stud. He hits home run 15 and rbi 39 here in the bottom half of the eighth inning. It's 5-4 Shuckers and the 6-0 series possibility is still alive. Wow. What a rocket.

What. A. Win. 5-4 Shuckers. AND the dream of a first half crown is still alive. Four more wins in this Pensacola series needed. I BELIEVE.

He tuneth ineth to the Timber Rattlers contest and he witness-eth a double walk and balk scenario. Now, Captain OBP, Wes Clarke, has walked and it's bases juiced. No outs. AND, Joe Gray Jr. is at the plate. Can Joe break his slump? I dunno but I'm excite!

Joe Gray Jr. rips a two-run 0-2 double off the wall in left field. Incredible stuff. Epic. 2-2. Men on 2nd and 3rd. Nobody down. Warren at the dish.

I believe it's time to start discussing Noah Campbell's month of June:

After tonight's 2-for-4 night (2 dubs) he has hit 0.396 with a 0.517 OBP and an 0.688 SLG in 48 AB's. That's, um, what you might call lights out?

11 walks to 12 k's in the same span.

He. Is. On. Fire.
