Houser has been mediocre/poor for quite a long time now. But CC is happy because he gets to canonize him in the presser for "giving us six innings" while all but ignoring his putting us behind by five.

And in the Presser, CC barely touched on the "he gave us six" factor. I was wrong. Admitting that on message boards can be good for the soul.

For those of you complaining about the lack of .250+ hitters in our lineup, you do realize that the Phillies, who I'm sure most of you would recognize as having a "good" offense, have the same number of players hitting above that threshold as we do. Granted, one of those guys is Bryce Harper, who is hitting .320, but the point largely stands. It is extremely hard to maintain that kind of a batting average in today's game given all of the advantages that pitchers possess. Whether that trend is good for the game as a whole is a different matter, but it's nevertheless the reality we're currently living in. Stats like OPS, wRC+, etc. matter infinitely more nowadays when assessing the quality of hitters.
